Number 10: Altair IV from Forbidden Planet

An Alien world filled with mystery and vistas, it was once the home of creatures called the Krell. During their time on the planet, they built an advanced technological society underground, riddling the planet with countless tunnels and spectacular machinery.

Number 9: Arrakis from Dune

Created by Frank Herbert for his Dune series, Arrakis is a desert planet, and the most valuable world belonging to a vast intergalactic empire. A wasteland, it is the only place valuable spice can be found in the universe which has the ability to extend life, and make interstellar travel possible. But its most memorable feature is its giant sandworms!

This dry, dead desert planet orbits around three suns that keep the surface drowned in perpetual daylight. Its native species are ravenous creatures called "Bioraptors" that live in caverns, and can only survive in the darkness. Deadly, they remain hidden until they emerge and swarm the planet every twenty two years for a month-long eclipse.

This lush jungle planet was once a dead moon. It was made habitable with a special torpedo, showcasing the human ability to play god! Unfortunately it becomes unstable and explodes.

A prison planet, Crematoria is drowned in fire daily. Due to its inhospitality, guests are held under the surface, and it is completely inescapable. The only way on or off the planet is a rail-system that leads to a ship hangar. Venturing across its charred surface is certain suicide.

Number 5: Magrathea from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

It is an ancient planet located in orbit around twin suns in the heart of the Horsehead nebula. There, its economy was based on the manufacturing of other planets, including the Earth, for the wealthiest life forms in the universe.

Number 4: Krypton from Superman

The birthplace of Superman, Krypton was a doomed world, housing the most advanced civilization in the galaxy. It was made entirely of crystal, of which the civilization produced their technology.

Number 3: Coruscant from Star Wars

Situated in the heart of the galaxy, Coruscant was the home of the government for the Galactic Republic and the Empire that supplanted it. Over thousands of years of civilization, the planet has been entirely enveloped by cityscapes and urban sprawl. Immense skyscrapers reach high into the atmosphere, and flying vehicles crisscross the skyline in never-ending traffic. It is a bustling metropolis that refuses to sleep.

A lush jungle moon that orbits a massive gas giant; it is home to a plethora of lifeforms, including the Navi. Its atmosphere is toxic to humans, and it contains many wonders, such as floating mountains, valuable minerals, and an integrated system that links all living things.
