#10: “Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space” (2019)

Most mobile RPGs want you dancing between the main campaign and whatever PvP mode is offered. “Another Eden”, on the other hand, does not focus on its online components as much. Instead, it wants you to experience its wonderful story, world, and characters with very few things in the way. Cooldowns and stamina meters are little to no hassle, and you get to play a traditional RPG at no cost (unless you opt to purchase microtransactions). Assuming you’ve got the storage space to spare, this is very much worth your time. By the way, “Xenogears” and “Chrono” veterans Masato Kato and Yasunori Matsuda worked on the game. So, if you’re a fan of their work, you’re going to love this!
#9: “Pocket Mortys” (2016)
What do you get when you blend an Adult Swim cartoon with “Pokemon”? You get “Pocket Mortys”, an RPG where you control Rick and help him become the best Morty trainer across all dimensions. If you’ve played Pokemon, you know how to play “Pocket Mortys”. However, there’s a little more to it than just battling. You’ll have to craft materials that’ll help you recruit more Mortys as well as create boosters and serums to keep them alive...which is a little harder than it sounds. Needless to say, it’s a bite-sized “Pokemon” clone that will test your mettle and maybe humor you with the bizarre versions of Rick’s timid grandson.
#8: “Eternium” (2014)
Those who can’t get enough of dungeon-crawling RPGs like “Diablo” need to check out “Eternium”. “Eternium” may seem like a standard RPG, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Whereas other titles may try to give you a gamepad interface, “Eternium” keeps its controls simple by only asking you to tap or drag where you want to move, tap to attack, and draw basic symbols to execute special attacks. It harkens back to the good ol’ days of sitting in a dark room, wasting days and nights playing classics like “Warcraft” and “Fate”. Needless to say, you’re probably going to drain your battery playing this.
#7: “Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem” (2018)

A mobile game starring the Looney Tunes? Sounds like a cash grab of a disaster, but on the contrary, “Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem” is a rather amusing RPG, and we’re not talking about all of the wacky ways to take out your foes. Players collect tokens to recruit various characters to take on quests, gathering materials to upgrade each Toon’s abilities and build your own towns. Farming isn’t as big of a hassle as one may think, as “World of Mayhem'' gives you the ability to insta-win previous missions so long as you achieved all three stars. With deep combat and features that make sure you aren’t wasting precious time, it’s no wonder this game was downloaded over a million times on launch day!
#6: “Monster Hunter Stories” (2018)

While it was originally a 3DS game released in 2017, “Monster Hunter Stories” was reconfigured for iOS and Android a year later, just barely meeting our criteria. This turn-based RPG sees players exploring different lands, nabbing monster eggs to hatch and train, and using them to battle other monsters. ...Okay, yes, it’s a “Pokemon”-LIKE game that costs a rather steep twenty bucks, but it’s “Monster Hunter” in a different light, and that’s what makes it special. Besides, you can still jam out on the Hunting Horn and even customize companion monsters! So, go take on the world with your favorite monsters!
#5: “Crashlands” (2016)
Having a bad day and need a game to help you crack a smile? Allow us to introduce you to “Crashlands”, an action RPG from Butterscotch Shenanigans. The game tasks players to gather materials in order to craft a wide assortment of items. With baconweeds, fatfish, rave tubes, and more, you too can have your own flamethrower, chemwand, or glorb! It’s goofy, ridiculous, and overall a good time. So, if you’re into hunting for items and exploring a land of absurd creatures, “Crashlands” will always have some bizarre experience in store for you.
#4: “Fire Emblem Heroes” (2017)

If you’re into RPGs that focus a little more on the strategy side, then “Fire Emblem Heroes” is right up your alley! This spin-off title of Nintendo’s acclaimed tactical RPG franchise sees the player recruiting various characters from across the “Fire Emblem” series to stop a faction known as the Embla Empire. While its combat system keeps things simple with a rock-paper-scissors approach, it still keeps things challenging with different layouts, obstacles, and enemy variants. In other words, it manages to simplify the “Fire Emblem” formula without sacrificing the other aspects that have made the franchise exceptional.
#3: “Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm” (2019)
It may not be tactical or turn-based, but “Oceanhorn” is an action-RPG hybrid in a similar vein to “Zelda”. While many players may have written off the first game as a total knockoff, “Oceanhorn 2” proved to be an ambitious sequel with a vast world and unique characters … despite the obvious “Breath of the Wild” vibes. It impressed so many critics at launch that it was deemed one of the best exclusives on Apple Arcade. So, if you’re looking to kill time and are craving a bit of adventure, you can’t go wrong with this! Just make sure you don’t get too immersed if you’re trying to catch a train or bus… Trust us, you’re going to miss it if you do.

What makes “AI Dungeon” so special is how it manages to give you a new story every single time. How does it do it? Well, the game is operated by an AI that learns and adapts to responses, allowing it to find ways to progress stories with new details and events. You can take it seriously and fully immerse yourself in a story, or you can have fun with it and see how crazy or stupid things will get. For example, one of our editors tried it out and got a story where he watched a feature length version of one of our lists. Yeah...it gets weird, but it’s a game that everyone should give a shot!
