Prepare for our worst – hey, that's how they'd want it. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we'll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Anime Masochists.

For this list, we're looking at anime characters enticed by the prospect of feeling pain. While most get sexual gratification from the experience, characters whose strength derives from torture will also be considered.

#10: Corset

“Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt” (2010) If his name failed to give it away, this purple-faced demon loves a good dose of bondage. The mayor of Daten City is the primary baddie of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, with plans to unleash hell in order to take over Heaven. Corset attire leaves little to the imagination, with buckles covering his entire body – so the pressure can be increased at a moment's notice. That is just the tip of the iceberg, as mouth stretching hooks and a literal corset make up the rest of Corset’s masochistic appearance.

#9: Yoshiharu Hisomu

“Kiznaiver” (2016) Six high-schoolers are kidnapped and forced to take part in a dangerous experiment centering around pain. The teens are connected to each other; so if one of them is hurt, they all feel it. While this is obviously torture for the majority of the group, as a masochist, Yoshiharu Hisomu stands as the sole benefactor. With the exception of drowning, there is no form of pain Hisomu is unwilling to try, and he is totally unashamed of his behavior. Unsurprisingly, the rest of the group find his personality trait rather unsettling.

#8: Touko Fukawa

“Danganronpa: The Animation” (2013-16) Hope’s Peak Academy is not exactly known for its well-adjusted students, so someone has to be particularly perverse to leave a lasting impression. Touko Fukawa is smart but socially awkward, spending most of her free time stalking her ideal boyfriend Byakuya Togami. This goes well beyond the realms of puppy love, with Touko taking on a more submissive role whenever Byakuya is involved. Despite panicking at the sight of blood, due to a childhood trauma, Touko is a sadomasochist who is constantly at odds with her own emotions.

#7: Virgo

“Fairy Tail” (2009-) Lucy Heartfilia is a Mage who can summon Celestial Spirits based on the Zodiac signs to fight by her side. One of these powerful warriors comes in the form of the extremely loyal Virgo, who represents the Maiden. This pink haired spirit constantly wears a servant’s uniform, with shackles around her wrists. At first, Virgo’s appearance seems to reflect her Zodiac sign, but she tends to seek out punishment from her master at any given opportunity. Virgo is obedient to a fault, even changing her physique to better serve Lucy.

#6: Ruby Toujou

“Rosario + Vampire” (2008) Originally a powerful witch who vowed to destroy humanity, this changes once Tsukune strolls into the scene, as Ruby does a 180 and decides to become his toy. Why? Well, Rosario + Vampire is a harem and those are simply how things work. Over the course of two seasons, Ruby fantasizes about being punished by Tsukune and does not hide her feelings. This witch tends to just go with the flow, doing whatever task is assigned to her. Ruby struggles to act on her own, constantly serving as someone else’s subordinate.

#5: Ira Gamagoori

“Kill La Kill” (2013-14) Easily the most honorable member of the student council, this towering powerhouse is an intimidating force of nature. When Ira activates his Goku Uniform’s special ability – called Shackle Regalia - the costume transforms into a bondage suit that absorbs physical attacks and boosts Ira’s own strength. This uniform also has a special whip attack, that can be turned on Ira's own body to further increase the Shackle Regalia’s power. Oh yeah, did we mention Ira shouts out stuff like “I’ve Been a Bad Boy” while in this form?

#4: Sarutobi Ayame

“Gintama” (2006-) Over-the-top characters are the standard for this hilarious parody anime, with Sa-chan being far from an exception. A former elite ninja, Sarutobi now works as an assassin for hire, with her path eventually leading to Gintoki and the odd-jobs group. After messing with Gin’s pudding and incurring his wrath, Sa-chan becomes infatuated with the silver-haired samurai’s harsh behavior. This shinobi is extremely skilled with Kunais, and occasionally demonstrates a cold-hearted dedication to her job, although the majority of her time is dedicated to stalking Gin-san and finding new ways to instigate his abuse.

#3: Hidan

“Naruto: Shippuden” (2007-17) Pain does not mean much when you are practically immortal. Arrogant and a lover of violence, Hidan is a powerful S-rank ninja, who is a wanted murderer. With the exception of malnutrition, Hidan cannot die and loves to inflict as much pain as possible before eliminating his opponent. Although not immune to suffering, this psychotic villain revels in the experience. This is probably due to Hidan’s special ability, which creates a physical connection to his opponent, so they feel any pain inflicted on Hidan’s body. Once activated, self-mutilation is the way to go.

#2: Darkness

“KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!” (2016-17) Do not let her angelic appearance confuse you, Dustiness Ford Lalatina is easily the most twisted member of Kazuma’s party. A crusader who fills the tank role for the team, Darkness’ talent lies in her ability to withstand one hit after another. With attacking skills that are borderline non-existent, this blonde haired beauty gets hot and heavy at the prospect of defeat, prompting her to jump headfirst into any given encounter. Although kind at heart, Darkness’ masochistic tendencies cause Kazuma a world of trouble.

#1: Reiji Andou

“Prison School” (2015) Masochism is rarely a defining character trait, often being used for comedic value or to show a lack of confidence. Andre is different – as this student is all about the pain. After being caught peaking by the Underground Student Council and sent to Prison School, Andre finds heaven in the form of Vice-President Meiko Shiraki, who more than surpasses his greatest desires. The dude takes things a step further by developing a system called Andrenomics, in order to power-up his eventual punishment. Who knew masochism could lead to innovation? Do you agree with our list?
