Peanut butter cookies are just one of those comfort foods that will make you feel cozy on a cold winter afternoon. Or as an after school snack. Or as a picnic dessert. Okay, let's be honest: there are a lot of perfect times to eat a peanut butter cookie (or many). As far as recipes go, this one is pretty easy, and with very little variation. Just a few ingredients go a long way to making these delightful cookies. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com shows you our recipe for the Ultimate Peanut Butter Cookie (just like your grandma used to make!).
How to Make the Ultimate Peanut Butter Cookie
For all the peanut butter lovers out there, these cookies are just like the ones your grandmother used to make.
This recipe yields between 3-4 dozen, depending on the size of the cookie.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup margarineWe’re using crunchy peanut butter to give it some extra texture.
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ¾ peanut butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 ¾ cup flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
1. First, we’ll preheat the oven to 375°F.Be prepared to make these cookies over and over again, because once your family gets their hands on them they’ll be hooked.
2. Now to start the cookies, cream together the margarine and two sugars in a large bowl.
3. Once that’s done, add the egg, peanut butter and vanilla, and mix well.
4. Sift the flour, baking soda and salt into the wet ingredients, and mix until combined.
5. Once your dough is made, it might be too warm to work with. If this is the case, put it in the fridge for half an hour.
6. Now’s the time to shape your cookies: make roughly 1-inch balls, and roll them in sugar before placing them about 2-inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
7. To decorate them the traditional way, take a fork and make a hash mark pattern on the top of each cookie.
8. Place them in the oven for 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
9. Leave them to cool on the baking sheets for one minute before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
