OC: “When you plan on revolutionizing the electric guitar, you can’t just use any old stratocaster. Wedged in alongside greats like B.B. King and Angus Young, Eddie’s axe of choice was a must-have for the Top 10 Iconic Guitars of All Time.

OC: “Everyone knows that iconic intro from “Hot for Teacher”, and it wouldn’t have been possible without Edward’s older brother Alex on drums. Fun fact - this wasn’t the last Van Halen family member to be a part of the group, with Eddie’s son Wolfgang joining in 2006 as the group’s bassist. With that in mind, they were a no-brainer addition to the Top 10 Musical Siblings.

OC: “If you’re watching this video, there’s a good chance you’re a hardcore Van Halen fan. So you probably already know that David Lee Roth wasn’t the only frontman for the group. And though there are some die-hard Sammy Hagar fans out there, it’s hard to compete with the stage presence and swagger of both Roth and EVH. That’s why they had to be included on our 2016 list of the Coolest Rock Vocal-Guitar duos.

OC: “There’s some debate over Eddie’s classification as a ‘shredder’ among the guitar community, since that genre is largely instrumental, but when you consider how popular techniques like tapping, whammy bar dives and pinch harmonics would become after his time, there’s no doubt he fits the description. Here he is at number #3 on the Top 10 Most Insane Shred Guitarists.

OC: “Do you get it now? The man is quite good at guitar! It wasn’t so well established yet back in 1978 when the debut album “Van Halen” was released though. That all instantly changed in a matter of minutes, and that’s how he ended up at #2 on our list of the Top 10 Guitar Albums of all time.”

OC: “There’s one song that usually comes to mind when discussing this axeman’s legacy. We won’t tell you what it is, but here’s a hint - Volcanoes! But seriously, this solo-to-end-all-solos was part of what made Van Halen’s tours and stage shows so exciting. If they made a stop in your city, you could expect that, at some point in the evening, the lights would go dim, a shadowy figure holding a cigarette would emerge, and proceed to melt all the faces in the room. You can’t have Van Halen without Eddie Van Halen, and that’s why he cracked the #2 spot on our list of the Top 10 Band Guitarists. Keep in mind, we did have to put Jimmy Page somewhere.
