But seriously, this solo-to-end-all-solos was part of what made Van Halen’s tours and stage shows so exciting. If they made a stop in your city, you could expect that, at some point in the evening, the lights would go dim, a shadowy figure holding a cigarette would emerge, and proceed to melt all the faces in the room. You can’t have Van Halen without Eddie Van Halen, and that’s why he cracked the #2 spot on our list of the Top 10 Band Guitarists. Keep in mind, we did have to put Jimmy Page somewhere.
