Recipe: How to Make Crispy and Creamy Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

Nothing beats comfort foods, and Mac and Cheese is one of the ultimate of these dishes.

Ingredients:

- 2 cups of dry elbow macaroni
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 4 cups warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
- salt and pepper to taste
- a dash of your favorite hot sauce
- 1 tsp ground mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 5 ounces cubed or shredded Cheddar cheese
- 5 ounces cubed or shredded mozzarella cheese
- 5 ounces cubed or shredded Monterey Jack cheese

TOPPING:
- 1 cup Bread crumbs
- ½ cup Grated Parmesan cheese
- paprika to taste

Directions:

1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F, and then grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. Next, you want to boil your pasta. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil, then add your pasta and cook it until it’s al dente, which should take between 8 and 10 minutes. When it’s finished, drain the pasta.
3. Now, in a medium saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the flour to make a roux.
4. Cook your roux for about two minutes and keep stirring it constantly, and then whisk in the warm milk a little at a time.
5. Bring that to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer.
6. Now, mix in the salt, pepper, hot sauce, mustard powder and Worcestershire sauce, and keep stirring until the sauce thickens.
7. Remove your pan from the heat, and stir in your cheeses.
8. Now, add the pasta and make sure it’s all covered. When that’s done, pour it into your baking dish.
9. Top that with the breadcrumbs, paprika and Parmesan cheese.
10. Bake your mac and cheese covered for about thirty minutes, then remove the aluminum foil and cook it for another 15 to 30 minutes, or until the topping is crispy.
11. Leave it to cool for about 20 minutes before you serve it.
You can try changing the flavor of your mac and cheese by mixing it up with different cheeses.
