Gotham City Impostors: Everything You Should Know

What’s the difference between you and the real Batman? He doesn’t wear hockey pads! Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re exploring everything you should know about Gotham City Impostors.
Developed by Monolith Productions, and published by Warner Interactive, Gotham City Impostors is a Batman game centered on the unlikeliest of playable characters.
In this colorful and over-the top online first-person shooter, players take on the role of either Batman or Joker wannabes involved in a 6 on 6 showdown. What sets this game apart from other shooters, or even Batman games, aside from its obvious lack of the Dark Knight or his deranged antagonist, is its zany comedic style, example of which include combat zones set in an amusement park and a chemical factory.
Essentially, players join teams of obsessive fans-turned-vigilantes and super criminals as they navigate a series of maps in a full on turf war.
Like other multiplayer-based shooters, this game is all about taking enemies down, albeit you can now do so with cardboard ears or lots of makeup. That’s right, you can now adapt your style to the characters.
Cosmetic customizations aside, the real focus in the game are the many gadgets. You also can gain special abilities, like grappling guns, roller skates and glider wings, by using homemade weapons.
These weapons include deployable garden gnomes with tazers, soda bottles filled with Nitro-Glycerin, bullhorns, Jack-in the boxes and a ball bearing blaster. Of course, standard weapons are included as well, such as knives, pistols, assault rifles, submachine guns and shotguns.
Play modes include standard Team Death-match. However, things get interesting with Psyche Warfare and Fumigation.
Psyche Warfare is a bizarre version of capture the flag. In it, you must pick up a battery for a brainwashing machine, only to invade enemy territory and hold off foes while it powers up. Once activated, they will find themselves unable to use weapons.
In Fumigation, players must take control of three gas pumps and hold them for the greatest amount of time. Winning will either gas the other team, or have bats chew them up.
Aside from this, players will be able to take on time-based challenges that reward you with medals, as you navigate the game’s warped environments.
This is undoubtedly one of the wackiest licensed spinoffs you may ever see. It may sound unglamorous to play as one of many posers, but this game definitely packs lots of personality.
An experience akin to that of Call of Duty gone batty, Gotham City Impostors is available for download on the PC, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live.
