VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
It's hard to go wrong with cheese as an appetizer at a party. And bite-sized is even better. What better way to serve up some bite-sized cheese snacks than to make some tangy balls? The combination of cream cheese and cheddar, mixed with roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes or green onions is a great blend. And the pecan crust adds the perfect amount of crunch. These balls are flavorful, tender, and a testament to the talent of their creator, Mr. Pete Schweddy. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com shows you a variation on Pete Schweddy's recipe for Cheese Balls, otherwise known as Schweddy Balls.

How to Make Schweddy (Cheese) Balls

These are a traditional bite sized treat that’s perfect for your next party. Here is Pete Schweddy’s recipe for Cheese Balls, otherwise known as Schweddy Balls.

Ingredients

- 2 (250 g) packages Brick Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 (200 g) package Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Dash cayenne pepper
- ¼ cup chopped roasted red peppers or sun dried tomatoes
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 ⅔ cups chopped pecans

Directions:

1. Using a mixture, blend together the cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder and cayenne in a large bowl.
2. Divide that mixture in half. To one portion add the roasted peppers, and to the other add the green onions. Mix them each until everything is combined.
3. Refrigerate your cheese mixtures for several hours, or until they’re chilled.
4. Once the mixtures have set, shape them into 1-inch balls.
5. Now, roll them in nuts to coat, and put them back in the fridge until you’re ready to serve them.
TIP: If you want to switch it up, try coating the balls with sesame seeds, chopped fresh parsley, paprika, or shredded cheese.
Try making these the day ahead so all the flavors have time to blend. Serve them with your favorite crackers for a great party treat, and be prepared to make a lot because there’s no resisting these Schweddy Balls.
