VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
Progressive metal band Dream Theater was founded in 1985 by guitarist John Petrucci, bassist John Myung, and drummer Mike Portnoy. The band found massive success with their technical skill and symphonic sound. In 2010, after 25 years as a band, Portnoy decided to leave the band to explore other career possibilities. The band needed a new drummer, and they did so through a series of exhaustive auditions that were filmed and released as the documentary, "The Spirit Carries On." In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com chats with Petrucci about Portnoy's departure, the drummer auditions and what they were looking for in a new band member. For more information, click Here.
