7 Things You Should Know About Tron: Evolution
Get ready to once again venture through the computer world. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be exploring the 7 things you should know about Tron Evolution.
Number 1: The Plot
Evolution takes place between the original movie and the sequel Tron: Legacy. As the game opens, you find yourself living the events that led to the imprisonment of Jeff Bridges’ character Kevin Flynn within the grid. In fact, you’re given control of a program he created. Your mission is to combat a powerful virus, and get to the bottom of a dangerous conspiracy consuming the world of Tron.
Number 2: Gameplay
Sharing the control mechanics of games like Prince of Persia, wall running and parkour movements are heavily used to navigate the immense environments. At the same time, holding down a shoulder button before reaching designated "jump" points will allow you to fluidly transition from running to leaping through the air.
Number 3: Light Cycles
A Tron game needs light cycles, and thankfully these iconic vehicles play a large part in the game. More precisely, the biking sections are used to separate the different on-foot areas. In addition, the cycles themselves feature the ability to turn at 90-degree angles, as seen in the original film.
And as you would expect, each cycle emits a light trail behind it that will severely damage or nullify any enemy that crosses its path.
Number 4: Multiplayer Modes
Featuring four modes, these include t single player, and multi-player “Disintegration.”
The third mode is called “Power Monger.” In this match, you must take over map sections and retain control over them.
And finally there’s “Bit Runner,” a unique version of Capture the Flag. However, instead of taking the targeted object back to base, you have to hold onto it while everyone else tries to eliminate you.
Plus, new maps and modes are planned for downloadable content, as well as some upgrades in player progression including higher levels and new vehicles.
Number 5: Player Progression
Playing the single player campaign, you will earn certain enhancements and vehicles for use in multiplayer, as a way to specialize your character. In fact, awards from multiplayer will be usable in the single player as well. This means that you will be able to create a custom character that works with your style of play.
However, each upgrade will be balanced. This means that if you get a damage increase or stealth-ability, you may move slower or lose some of your agility.
This crossover feature has been included to encourage gamers take on both the multiplayer and single-player portions of the game.
Number 6: Motion Control Support
Fans of motion-based gaming are in for a treat, as Light Cycle Control will be built into several retail versions of the game, including the PlayStation Move. For example, while playing you can hold the Move controller sideways and tilt it up and down to control the speed of your vehicle.
Number 7: 3D Support and Graphics
Considering its pedigree, it shouldn’t be that surprising to learn that Tron will be presented in full stereoscopic 3D. As the environments are angular, it will present a very clear and distinct 3d Gaming experience that uses the extra depth of field.
The graphics have also been influenced by the movie's set and costume designs to portray the same cyberpunk neon aesthetic of the new film.
Conclusion:
Tron fans of the series will be glad to discover that this isn’t a quick movie tie-in-game, and offers players a stylized and thrilling action adventure through one of cinema’s most iconic fantasy worlds.
