Dead To Rights: Retribution

After a long hiatus, the vigilante Cop franchise is finally making the leap to the current generation of consoles. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be filling you in on the 7 Things You Should Know About Dead To Rights: Retribution.

Number 1: Franchise Reboot
While 2005’s Dead To Rights 2 was a prequel, the third installment is a complete neo-noir remake aimed at re-introducing the franchise to a new generation of mature gamers. Not only is this the first high-def entry in the series, but Developer Volatile Games have produced a top level action game with features that set it apart from the competition.

Number 2: The Plot
As a member of the Grant City Anti-Crime Unit, you play the part of a bad-ass cop, Jack Slate, and his blood-thirsty Alaskan Malamute, Shadow. As the game opens you’re dropped in the middle of an intense fight deep into the narrative. As you progress you’ll discover that you have taken it upon yourself to unravel a deadly conspiracy.

Number 3: Controlling Shadow
Dead to Rights is not just unique for it’s use of a loyal K-9 partner. But in this remake your obedient domesticated wolf will follow your every command. Not only that, but you can even perform tag-team attacks or take control of Shadow. In the role of your vicious pooch you can directly take down goons, retrieve ammo, create distractions or scout ahead.

Number 4: Gameplay
Retribution is a third-person action game with a focus on close-quarters combat and using various forms of cover. You will use a variety of weapons as you progress, with a focus on throwing physical attacks in order to get the upper hand in a fight.

Number 5: Focus Mode
Being a seasoned cop has its advantages. Intense police training has given Jack heightened senses allowing him to momentarily speed up his reflexes. The result of this is an ability to slow down time in order to line-up perfect shots or take out several bad guys with precision accuracy. The more enemies you eliminate, the more you fill your meter, which also results in stronger physical attacks when focused.

Number 6: Disarms
While Jack is especially skilled at hand-to-hand combat, bullets are a real pain. Luckily, he can now confiscate any weapon pointed at him. When a bad guy charges toward you, you can instantly turn the tables by pressing the on-screen button displayed at the right moment.

If you don’t want to kill the poor hapless goon yourself, you can also take him as a human shield and let his friends do the dirty work.

Number 7: Take-Downs
When guns, punches, kicking and holding won’t cut it, Jack can also perform brutal takedowns. These are the best way to drop a thug. Like Disarms, this action can be performed when a button prompt appears onscreen. Takedowns come in many devastating flavors and all of them will put your attacker to bed for good.

While Canine-team ups have generally been portrayed 2 dimensionally in the past, players will now get to pick up a genuinely gritty, mature and interactive game that has managed to re-define itself.
