7 Things You Should Know About Army of Two: The 40th Day
They’re the gaming world's most dangerous private military team. Welcome to Watchmojo.com, and today we'll be highlighting the 7 things you should know about the highly anticipated sequel to 2008’s cooperative shooter “Army of Two”.
#1:The Story:
Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem, the private mercenary duo from the previous game have become trapped in Shanghai during a routine mission. As the city becomes overrun by an invading military force, the team must work together to survive a series of man-made disasters.
#2: Game-play:
The 40th Day has been built with a focus on two-player co-op; this has resulted in a bigger and better two-person tactical experience then the first game. While the cooperative moments used to be pre-determined, now players can use cooperative strategies at any time for a dynamic tactical experience. The 40th Day is also based around a cover-system and revolves around the use of special abilities, which include flanking, using human shields and pretending to surrender while your partner takes out the enemies.
#3: Morality Moments: As a new addition to the franchise, players are forced to make moral decisions that affect how the story plays out. At pre-determined moments in the game, players will be presented with a choice. If one player chooses a particular path, then the other will be forced to follow along. The presentation of these moments takes the form of stylized comic panels.
#4: The Aggro System: The Aggro system that allows you to control which of your team have drawn the attention of the enemy has undergone numerous improvements. Now, you can monitor which player the enemies are focused on, and mock-surrendering will cause them to place all of their attention on a particular player.
#5: Multiplayer: The multiplayer has been improved in several ways as well. Online matches can now hold up to 10 players and there are 4 different game-play modes. Gamers can now participate in “Co-op” death-matches, in which teams of two fight it together. In “Control Mode”, points are awarded to the teams that captures and defend randomly chosen locations. In “Warzone”, players are given various objectives to complete, and “Extraction Mode” borrows the popular mode from Gears of War, as teams of four must fight waves of increasingly powerful enemies.
#6: Weapons and Masks:
Advanced customization enables you to change your weapons in the heat of battle in order to adapt to the combat environment. Players are encouraged to use the game’s currency system to change the appearance of their weapon, as well as tweak its accuracy, handling, ammo capacity and firepower. Beside’s weapons, players can also customize the look of the ballistic masks worn by the game’s protagonists.
#7: Development:
Army of two was developed by EA Montreal with a focus on delivering a sensory experience similar to the film “Cloverfield”. The developers want players to feel panicked and confused while a series of man-made disasters drive them to work together to survive. Army of Two: The 40th Day is available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Portable consoles.
