Last week, we asked you: What is YOUR single greatest high-school movie ever made?
We received more than 500 comments, where you brought up films like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Clueless, Dazed and Confused, Heathers, and more. Our rewatch list just got infinitely longer and better, so thank you all for your suggestions! Whether they reflect your own high school experience or make you nostalgic for simpler times, these movies clearly had an impact.
Now, a comment from lew8450 brought up an interesting perspective: there obviously isn’t just one great high school movie. There are plenty to choose from, and according to them, the 80s and 90s had some of the best.
That got us thinking about which decade had the most impactful films: the 70s had The Godfather, Taxi Driver, and Star Wars. The 80s gave us E.T., Back to the Future, and… more Star Wars. And the 90s produced such hits as Jurassic Park, The Matrix and… wait another Star Wars?!
Whether you prefer the New Hollywood era of the 60s and 70s, the groundbreaking sci-fi adventures of the 80s, the gritty crime thrillers of the 90s, or the comic book franchises of the 2000s, each decade of movies has something for everyone. Which leads us to this week’s question:
Which decade produced the best movies of any genre?
We know this is bound to start a generational war for movie supremacy, but there really are no wrong answers!
