10 Hidden Secrets in Resident Evil Requiem

Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, we’re taking a look at 10 hidden secrets to find in “Resident Evil Requiem”!

Leon’s License Plate

When Leon’s Porsche is on screen, it’s almost impossible to not look at anything else. Hey, it is one sexy car. But there is one fun detail on it that some players may have missed. On the back of the car is Leon’s license plate, and it contains the numbers “9-6-4-2”. Those are the same numbers as the numbered entries Leon appears in throughout the “Resident Evil” franchise. He shared the spotlight with Claire in RE2, got his own game in RE4, made up a good chunk of RE6 and its handful of characters, and then, sharing the spotlight again in “Resident Evil Requiem”, aka RE9.

A Stacked Pantry

This should go without saying, but you do not want to take on the Chef until after you’ve gone through most of the East Wing. Once you’ve found yourself inundated with more ammunition than when you first started exploring the ward, then you’ll want to consider killing the Chef. The reason for this is because, as one note reveals, the Chef carries the Pantry Key, and the Pantry has all sorts of goodies stowed away. It is absolutely worth going for this key. Just make sure you haven’t used too many Requiem bullets in case you end up in a bind.

Best Hat in S.T.A.R.S.

When Capcom revealed that Leon was going to be revisiting RPD, we were pretty surprised as some of us assumed that just about everything in Raccoon City was decimated by this point, especially RPD. And yet, it seems as if some things are blessed (or cursed) with preservation. For example, one item you can find in RPD is a blue beret in the S.T.A.R.S. office. Of course, this is the same beret worn by the bad babe herself, Jill Valentine. Say, Jill’s been M.I.A. since RE5 and “Revelations”. Where the hell has she been? Perhaps that’s a question RE10 needs to answer.

A Forever Unrequited Love

Indeed, many objects and artifacts remain preserved in the ruins of RPD. Much of it feels as if it’s been forever frozen in time. And given the amount of time that’s passed between RE2, RE3, and “Requiem”, we have one important question to ask: did Wesker ever go back to RPD for his belongings before he died? Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Once you’ve found the Library Card, head upstairs to the Library and look for a green book on one of the shelves. Find it, and you’ll see where Wesker (or whoever) decided to stash away Rebecca’s photo.

Keychain Comrade

Throughout your time with “Requiem”, you’ll slowly come across a number of different keychains that’ll bolster your defenses or even buff your weapons. Although, there is one keychain that looks a bit odder than the rest. After you’ve defeated three hundred enemies and cleared your first playthrough, you’ll unlock something called the “Trusted Companion Charm”. The keychain resembles none other than Claire Redfield, whom Leon met way back in RE2. Sorry, it’s still weird seeing a fully figured model as a keychain compared to the others, which are things like symbols, objects, and iconography…not full characters.

An Agent in the Shadows?

Speaking of hidden characters, there’s one member of S.T.A.R.S. who is still lurking in the ruins of RPD. Upon entering the Operations Room, there is a small chance he’ll appear and watch you until your camera is pointed at him. Yes, you have spotted a wild Tofu, our edible hero from RE2! Tofu’s adventure was one of RE2’s unlockable campaigns in which you must reach the helicopter and escape Raccoon City before the timer runs out. Despite what some may think at first glance, this is actually the hardest mission in RE2.

Only the Finest

One connection we never expected to see was one that relates to either of the games starring Ethan Winters. While we didn’t see anything referencing RE7, there is one reference to “Resident Evil Village” that you could easily look over depending on how focused you are. Towards the last part of the Rhodes Hills half of the game, Grace must break into Gideon’s office to look for the helicopter key. In trying to access the underground lab, you’ll have to rotate a wine bottle to where the label is perfectly aligned. This wine bottle is the same kind made by Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters, and you see it on a few occasions throughout your time at the castle.

Days of Capcom Past

Okay, one more bit from RPD. We know, social media has become obsessed with this portion of the game. But this one was really neat to find. Barry had supposedly planned a scavenger hunt for the younger members of S.T.A.R.S. (probably Rebecca, Chris, and Jill). Somewhere in RPD, Barry hid a key to a locker. Find the key, open the locker, and you’ll find a treasure trove of Capcom goodies. Not only is there a “Street Fighter Alpha” poster inside, but also copies of “Mega Man 8”, “Street Fighter Alpha 2”, and even the original “Resident Evil”.

Grace’s Report

At the very beginning of the game, Grace quickly tries to give her boss an update on a report she’s been working on. Under most circumstances, this is just a passing line to further emphasize how Grace is hyperfixated, but somewhat disorganized. Well, at the end of the game, a post-credits scene shows her boss asking for that same report. Upon completing your first playthrough, you actually get to read what Grace’s report is. Turns out it was a sixty-page document detailing the events of Umbrella Corps history as well as the events from the original “Resident Evil” all the way up to “Requiem”. It’s a fairly meaty read, but worth going over if you want to brush up on the story. It has been thirty years, after all.

The Biggest Puzzle

This is a secret that, at the time of this video, many players are still trying to solve. At some point, you may have come across a few oddities that seemed kind of random. There’s the doll in the cell opposite of Emily’s that seemingly does nothing. There’s also the mascot for Kendo’s gun store that seems to be broken in half. And there are the moon-star-sun patterns that only emit the sound of kids laughing. There are a large handful of things to look over, but so far, it’s a puzzle that no one seems to have solved just yet. Honestly, we’re shocked it wasn’t figured out on launch day, knowing how obsessive the internet gets.
