The 10 HARDEST Unlockables in DC Games
10 Hardest Unlockables in DC Games
Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, we’re taking a look at the 10 hardest unlockables across games based on DC Comics.
The Dark Knight
“Batman: Arkham Origins” (2013)
Of the “Arkham” games, “Origins” is perhaps the easiest game in the series as boss fights are mostly combat tutorials. Stealth and crime investigation are a walk in the park, too. What isn’t a walk in the park is getting the Dark Knight suit. To earn this suit, you will have to complete every single Dark Knight challenge. You know, the AR missions that have you gliding through rings like its “Superman 64”. Be prepared for frustration, though, as you will have to pull some absurd maneuvers to pass through some of the intricately placed rings. Honestly, this is just a simple cosmetic, so you can just play the game and skip the migraines.
Bat-Mite
“Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham” (2014)
We know it seems a tad odd to put a Lego game on a list like this. These are games meant for kids, and they aren’t anywhere close to the level of challenge us older players are typically used to. But Bat-Mite is a nuisance and a half. For starters, the game gives you no clear indication of Bat-Mite even having missions to do. He isn’t marked on the map, and he does not have a sign above his head to show he can be interacted with. But to play as him, you will have to complete every single one of his missions on every planet. Best keep a guide close by in case finding him becomes annoying.
The Premier Skins
“Injustice 2” (2017)
One of the coolest aspects of “Injustice 2” is how there are some extra characters hidden from the base roster. These characters are known as “Premier skins”, and they turn certain characters into completely different ones. For example, you can turn Captain Cold into Mr. Freeze, Raiden into Black Lightning, and Supergirl into Power Girl. But here’s the catch - these Premier skins are locked away behind the magical RNG crates we call “lootboxes”! So, who knows if you’ll manage to get one for free or if you’ll have to fork over an undetermined amount of cash to get one! Or you can just spend the premium currency to get them immediately. Lame.
Kandor Superman
“Justice League Heroes” (2006)
You can easily unlock a bunch of stuff just by entering cheat codes, but that’s if you’re playing the console version of “Justice League Heroes”. PSP players had to unlock goodies the natural way, and it was honestly a real pain in the tights. Costumes were locked behind the number of Shields you’ve obtained, which were earned by saving civilians. So, if you were wanting to get Kandor Superman, you would have to save up a whopping ninety-one shields. We wouldn’t make such a fuss over this if civilians didn’t drop one measly shield per rescue.
Rocket
“Young Justice: Legacy” (2013)
So, here’s the weird thing about “Young Justice: Legacy”: this game is boring. For the most part. Like, there are long stretches where this game is a complete snoozefest. Then, out of nowhere, it suddenly wants to get super difficult whether its a boss fight or some special requirement. Well, in order to unlock Rocket, you’re going to have to beat the entire game on Hard. You can get whatever grade so long as you beat the game. Even then, the game is still inconsistent on the difficulty spikes.
The Best Ending
“Batman Returns” (1993)
In terms of conventional unlockables, “Batman Returns” doesn’t have anything like additional playable characters or hidden minigames. At least the NES version doesn’t. No, the NES version has something far more special in the form of different endings. These endings aren’t based on what you do, but what happens to you. See, this iteration has a hidden point counter that goes up every time you take damage from specific enemies and bosses. Dying racks up a ton of points. To get the best ending possible, you cannot rack up more than five thousand three hundred seventy-six points, which equates to dying about five times. Best keep tabs on how often you’re getting hit!
Larry the Titan
“Teen Titans” (2006)
In all honesty, “Teen Titans” isn’t too difficult of a game overall. It has its moments, yet you can still beat it in a fair amount of time. Although, the same cannot be said when playing on Titan difficulty. Things ramp up substantially as you take more damage and enemies attack faster. And if you’re wanting a full completion percentage, you’ll have to nab all one hundred fifty Titan cards before the end of the game. What do you get for all this effort? Well, you get another Titan card in the form of Larry the Titan! Yeah, a real slap in the face right there.
Black Manta & Tempest
“Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis” (2003)
Okay, first off, why are you playing “Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis”? Why would anyone waste their time mashing the same button and wandering around empty environments? Are you that big of an Aquaman fan? Mashing X to doubt right now. But whatever - if you absolutely want something to work towards, here’s a test in patience and mental fortitude. Try to get through the entire game to unlock Classic Aquaman. Then, beat the entire game as Classic Aquaman. Do this, and you’ll get to play as Black Manta and Tempest. And no, neither of them make the game fun. Remember - this is “Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis” - fun is dead here.
Elseworld Flash
“Injustice: Gods Among Us” (2013)
Unlike its sequel, “Injustice: Gods Among Us” does not require you to fork over extra cash to get the cosmetics you want. Unfortunately, Flash fans might have wept when they learned about elseworld Flash. As a cosmetic, it's alright. But man, the effort is not worth it. For some reason, NetherRealm Studios decided to lock this costume behind the STARS missions, which have different requirements for obtaining three stars across every mission. You are going to have to earn all three Stars on every single mission just to get this one skin, a skin that has absolutely nothing remarkable going on for itself. So, do you really need the bragging rights?
Batsuit V8.05“Batman: Arkham Knight” (2015)
Of all the rewards you can get in any of the DC Comics video games, this one is certainly asking way too much from players. Batsuit V8.05 is locked behind a 240% completion rating, which sounds like an impossible task until you break down what the game wants from you. Step one is beating “Arkham Knight” with a 100% completion. Step two is beating the game a second time under New Game Plus while, yes, achieving 100% completion AGAIN. And to cap it all off, play through Season of Infamy and, a third time, achieve 100% completion for that. All of that for a dumb Batsuit that looks no different than any other Batsuit you’ve seen and offers no functionality of any kind to make it worthwhile. Hope you love “Arkham Knight” that much!
