8 Times Aloy Appeared OUTSIDE Horizon Games

“Fortnite” (2017)

The PlayStation brand is no stranger to the world of “Fortnite” as Kratos was the very first of their characters to be added to the platform game. Aloy, on the other hand, got an entire limited game mode dedicated to her when she arrived. In Season Six of Chapter Two, users were able purchase Aloy as well as some extra “Horizon” goodies. You could get a Blaze Canister as some back bling, a new loading screen featuring Aloy gliding next to the Battle Bus, and in what might be the best part of the collab, a Glinthawk glider!

“Monster Hunter: World” (2018)

“Monster Hunter: World” had already seen a couple of collaborations, but that was mainly with other Capcom IPs. When Aloy was added into the game, it took us all by surprise! Not only was this a guest character from outside of Capcom, it was only the second time a PlayStation character appeared in a Capcom game (the first being Cole MacGrath in “Street Fighter X Tekken”). As a bonus, this wasn’t just a simple skin or costume swap either. By equipping Aloy’s entire armor set, users got to play as her and even access unique abilities. As for your Palico friend, they could dress up as an adorable Watcher! Ever since we got to live through this collab, we’ve been holding out hope for a second go in future “Monster Hunter” games. We have yet to see that unfold, though.

“LittleBigPlanet” series (2008-)

Before it got delisted after Halloween 2024, “LittleBigPlanet 3” had some of the best cosmetics for players to nab. Among them was a complete set of costumes for Sackboy and company to dress as characters from “Horizon Zero Dawn”. Sackboy and Sackgirl could dress up as Aloy and Rost while Oddsock and Swoop could don costumes based on a Grazer and Stormhawk respectively. Sackboy would pay tribute once more in his own 3D platformer spin-off, “Sackboy: A Big Adventure”. Sometime after the game launched in 2020, “Sackboy: A Big Adventure” received two DLC costumes based on Aloy and, strangely enough, the cunning and mysterious Sylens.

“Ghost of Tsushima” (2020)

Admittedly, we’re playing fast and loose with our own criteria on this one. However, this is still worth acknowledging. A few months after launch, “Ghost of Tsushima” received a massive update that added in a brand new multiplayer mode. Along with this mode came a quartet of armors based on four different PlayStation characters. Samurai players could don armor inspired by Kratos. Assassins could take on the form of a Colossus. Ronin could channel their inner Hunter. And as for “Ghost of Tsushima” Hunters, they were given a whole outfit based on Aloy.

“Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” (2020)

Like “Fortnite”, “Fall Guys” has managed to squeeze so many different IPs together under its wild game show-esque aesthetics. PlayStation beans could already dress up as Ratchet, Clank, Sackboy, and even Jin Sakai. But in 2021, “Fall Guys” added in our beloved Aloy, complete with her own promo image for the occasion. All players had to do was complete a special challenge dedicated to her. Aloy’s Challenge required you to collect Blaze Canisters and hold onto Pegwin’s on the special map, Aloy’s Blaze Canister Mayhem. Aloy would return in 2022 as part of “Fall Guys’s” Guestravaganza event and was obtainable via PlayStation Plus bonuses. As of 2024, she has yet to return a third time.

“Death Stranding” (2019)

“Death Stranding” is already packing in a few odd cameos, but those are mainly in the form of real-life celebrities and public figures. However, in what might be a tribute to Guerrilla Games for assisting in development, Kojima Productions did put Aloy into “Death Stranding”. One of the neat features you’ll unlock are special holograms that you can place around the structures you build. One of the holograms you can set is one of Aloy. However, to unlock this hologram in particular, you will have to track down the PlayStation CEO Hermen Hulst–I mean, “the Craftsman” and complete several missions for him.

“Genshin Impact” (2020)

When it was announced that Aloy was going to be a playable character in “Genshin Impact”, we were immediately taken aback. In a pleasant way, of course. If PlayStation was working with other companies like MiHoYo to bring characters like Aloy to other games (besides “Fortnite” and “Fall Guys”), maybe there’s hope for more crossovers? Alas, this was her most disappointing outing. Aloy is, unfortunately, the weakest character in all of “Genshin Impact”. See, the big problem with her is that she has no Constellations to boost her abilities while every other character in the game has six Constellations. To make matters worse, she was only available to earn for a mere two months and has not returned since. It’s cool that Aloy managed to get into a game we’d never expect to see her in, but man, she deserved better.

“Astro Bot” (2024)

In the previous game, “Astro’s Playroom”, Aloy got to appear as a cameo alongside a litany of other renowned video game franchises from PlayStation and other companies. In “Astro Bot”, Astro got to take on Aloy’s appearance and abilities for an entire level! Once you’ve rescued Aloy from Falcon McFly, you’ll be granted access to a whole level dedicated to the world of “Horizon”. Here, you’ll rescue bots based on Erend, Rost, Sylens, and even two Bots dressed as a Watcher and a Grazer. You’ll even get to climb a Tallneck albeit in a fashion more suitable and snappy for a 3D platformer. Honestly, it might just go down as the best guest appearance Aloy and the “Horizon” franchise as a whole has ever made in a video game.
