A WatchMojo TV Show? I Feedback Friday Ep. 9

Hello, I’m Phoebe, and welcome back to Feedback Friday, where every week we ask one question, go through your comments and use your suggestions and feedback to improve your WatchMojo Experience.

Last week, Rebecca dove a bit into streaming with the question: How has your relationship with Netflix changed over the past couple of years? Well, with over 19,000 total votes in the poll, 51% of you mentioned that, while you are subscribed, your use of Netflix has been dropping significantly. And in the comment section the why is pretty simple to gather, prices and the quality of the content you get on the platform, and trust me, that second part is always top of mind in all our meetings.

Other comments mentioned the long wait between seasons, shows getting cancelled, and the fact that they mostly have Netflix because of their grandparents…Is Netflix the new Facebook? You be the judge.

We asked about Netflix because we’ve been thinking about something for a while now, and would like to run it by you. As we spread our collective wings, and premium scripted narrative programming becomes a part of our plan as a production company, it’s only natural for us to reach out and hear from you on this.

So, here’s the elevator pitch: Running Out of Ideas! A workplace comedy loosely inspired by our experiences building and running WatchMojo.

Think The Office... but set inside a YouTube company.

You can imagine that after 20 years, we have accumulated a lot of stories, some funny, some ridiculous, but most of them at our own expense, and in our quest to inform and entertain you.

Now, here’s the reality of our situation, and full transparency here. Any time we venture beyond our Top 10 lists about the topics we usually cover we find some pushback in the comments, the “stay in your lane” kind of pushback. We understand that a big part of your Youtube experience comes from regular, familiar programming, so our open question for this week is:

Would you want to watch a WatchMojo-inspired, original comedy series right here on this channel?

Or would you rather we keep the main channel focused on the WatchMojo you know and release a show like this somewhere else—Netflix, Paramount+, Tubi, or another streaming platform?

As you well know, we’ll never stop experimenting with new content and ideas, new ways to tackle the topics you like, but something like this, well, it’s a big jump. So your feedback, especially this week, is super important to us.
