#10: When He Failed to Impress Saoirse Ronan

During the filming of “Lady Bird”, Saoirse Ronan invited co-star Timothée Chalamet out for a drink. At the time, Chalamet was still below California’s legal drinking age of 21, but Ronan assumed he had a fake I.D. Unfortunately for Chalamet this was not the case, leading to an embarrassing moment he’d probably like to forget. According to him, Ronan simply walked away, with Chalamet later recounting the story for journalist Peter Travers; “And she walked away, and I kind of wanted to go, ‘No! Come back!’ Like, ‘Please think I’m cool!’ You know, I totally made myself not cool to her.” Ronan and Chalamet have since worked together on multiple films, but we doubt she’s ever let him live this awkward encounter down.

#9: His Film Independent Spirit Awards Acceptance Speech

Timothée Chalamet was nominated for Best Male Lead at the 33rd Independent Spirit Awards for his standout performance in 2017’s “Call Me by Your Name”. Up against the likes of James Franco, Daniel Kaluuya and Robert Pattinson, Chalamet walked away victorious. As a young actor experiencing a major award show for the first time, Chalamet seemed a little nervous accepting his prize. He kicked things off by jokingly reading the definition of gasoline - which drew a big laugh from the crowd – before delving into an impassioned speech about the future of independent filmmaking. Chalamet’s effortless charm was on full display, particularly when he thanked Sony Pictures Classics “for the career”. We look forward to more hilarious award show speeches from Chalamet in the future!

#8: When He & Ansel Elgort Debated Who Was More Popular in High School

Top 10 Timothée Chalamet Facts You Didn't Know

Future A-lister’s Ansel Elgort and Timothée Chalamet were both lucky enough to attend New York City’s prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. At the 2018 Golden Globes, both actors had an opportunity to reflect on their time there, thanks to the following question from MTV News reporter Josh Horowitz: who was more popular in high school? Elgort immediately says Chalamet was more popular, only for the latter to retort that Elgort had his own calendar in high school, effectively making him the more popular one. Chalamet went on to say that it was Elgort, and not him, landing the lead in all the school musicals. Uh, seriously guys? We think it’s safe to say you were BOTH insanely popular!

#7: Telling His Mom Where He Left the Remote During a Speech

The 2017 Palm Springs International Film Festival saw Timothée Chalamet taking home the festival’s Rising Star Award, thanks in large part to his performance in, you guessed it, “Call Me by Your Name”. During his acceptance speech, Chalamet once again demonstrated his penchant for speaking off the cuff, using the opportunity to thank his mother, before telling her that he left the Apple TV remote underneath the TV. Apparently she’d texted him when he was backstage asking about its whereabouts. Who else but Chalamet would use such a prestigious platform for such a banal message?

#6: When He Met Angelina Jolie & Jennifer Aniston on the Same Night

Also in:

Top 10 Moments That Made Us Love Jennifer Aniston

Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston’s names will forever be linked due to their consecutive and highly publicized relationships with fellow A-lister Brad Pitt. This was not lost on Timothée Chalamet when he met both at the 75th Golden Globe Awards. During an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Chalamet recounted the story, describing how the encounter left him torn as to “which side he was on”. The story, while hilarious, is an effective reminder that some Hollywood stars are just like us; and that clearly the Team Angelina / Team Jennifer debate continues to rage on – at least in Chalamet’s mind.

#5: The Time He Talked About His Dinner with Kim & Kanye West

Also in:

Top 10 Times Kanye West Took Us by Surprise

We all know celebrities need interesting stories to tell when they’re on a late night talk show, but Timothée Chalamet’s tale of dinner with a handful of fellow celebs takes the cake. During another visit to “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, Chalamet regaled the audience with a story involving Kim and Kanye West, Pete Davidson and Kid Cudi. As he tells it, his close friend Kid Cudi invited him to dinner with Davidson. Chalamet was already stoked to be eating with this objectively awesome duo, but his head nearly exploded when Kim and Kanye West joined them. Hearing Chalamet tell it, you’d think he was seconds away from a nervous breakdown. Fortunately, he survived the night and gained a kickass story.

#4: Fanboying Over Emma Watson

2019’s “Little Woman” saw Timothée Chalamet star opposite three of Hollywood’s most talented young actresses: Florence Pugh, Saoirse Ronan and Emma Watson. Having grown up watching the “Harry Potter” films, Chalamet was understandably nervous about meeting the latter for the first time. Adding to his anxiety was director Greta Gerwig’s icebreaker dance party, a technique she used to help put the whole cast at ease with one another. In Chalamet’s words, seeing Emma Watson for the first time was “a weird moment” and that he had to “work past that”. Hey, cut the man some slack! Who wouldn’t be starstruck in Hermione Granger’s presence?

#3: Fanboying Steve Carell

Following the success of “Call Me by Your Name” and ‘Lady Bird” Timothée Chalamet signed on to play Nic Sheff in the film “Beautiful Boy”, opposite Steve Carell. This proved a difficult task for Chalamet, but not because of the film’s heavy subject matter. No, the real problem was trying NOT to fanboy over Carell every time the two had a scene together. Despite his best efforts, Chalamet reportedly still told Carell multiple times how much he enjoyed his performance in “Foxcatcher”. Chalamet and Carell’s off-screen rapport is on full display in their numerous press tour interviews. “The Great British Bake Off” …that’s all we’ll say.

#2: His Interview with Armie Hammer on “Ellen”

Top 10 Funniest Robert Downey Jr. Interview Moments

Actors striking up a friendship after shooting a film together is nothing new. But few post-film relationships compare to that of Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet. The two appear to be very close, with Chalamet regularly serving as the third wheel to Hammer and his wife, Elizabeth Chambers, as seen on social media. Their camaraderie was on full display during a 2017 sit-down with Ellen DeGeneres; telling stories from the shoot of “Call Me by Your Name” and goofing around with one another. One story that stood out was their first rehearsal together, in which director Luca Guadagnino directed them to make-out in the grass, only to walk away while they were lost in the throes of fictitious passion. Now that’s what we’d call an icebreaker!

#1: His Rap Video

Also in:

Top 10 Funniest Kristen Wiig Moments

If you’ve yet to see the musical stylings of Lil Timmy Tim, prepare to have your mind blown. Timothée Chalamet came up with his rap persona in high school, infamously putting it on full display in a video project for his statistics class. We don’t know what we love most about this objectively terrible rap video. Is it the V-neck t-shirt and snapback hat tilted just enough to the side to show he’s a rapper? Is it the fact that Chalamet was too lazy to photoshop images of his teacher and statistics into the background? Or is it simply because we love Timothée Chalamet so much we could watch him do just about anything? Yeah, it’s that last one. FYI, he got a D on the project.
