#10: Rem

Top 10 Times Anime Characters Revealed Their True Strength

“Re;Zero – Starting Life in Another World” (2016-) While you can’t technically kill off Subaru since he just keeps coming back no matter how many times his body expires, that doesn’t mean he’s any good in a fight, at least when you compare him to this adorable oni. With powerful magic, demonic rage and some serious skills with a bladed chain, Rem can slaughter with the best of them. Just ask that pack of dogs that interrupted her romantic moment with her isekai dream boy. No matter what timeline she’s in, Rem remains as lethal as can be.

#9: Ross

“Senyu” (2013) Alba may be our hero, well one of the many descendants of the legendary hero, but his asshole companion still manages to be the star of the show. And what an asshole he was, hilarious abusing his party leader every step of the way before busting out his own mini-arsenal of weaponry to save the day. He may just be a run of the mill knight compared to a lot of other medieval anime heroes, but that still makes him a damn sight more impressive than the hero in his care.

#8: Taiju Oki

“Dr Stone” (2019) Undoubtedly the brawn to Senku’s brain, Taiju is a simple fellow who wouldn’t know the first thing about bringing science to the stone world. Of course, when it comes to a test of strength, the dude is beyond human, second only to the monster that is Tsukasa. While he wouldn’t dream of hurting anyone, his feats of raw power have displayed that if he ever were to give into any violent urges, then he would utterly crush anyone in his way. Thank goodness he’s a big ol’ softie and has his adorable crush to keep him grounded.

#7: Mamako Oosuki

“Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?” (2019) While the anime certainly revolves around her, everyone’s favourite pure-hearted OP MILF isn’t actually the hero of her own adventure. That honour goes to her son, who is painfully reminded each and every day just how much stronger his mother is. Sure, he’s got a few kills under his belt, but compared to the likes of Okaa-san over here and her habit of accidentally insta-killing all enemies on the field, he might as well be an NPC. He’s lucky she’s so nice and forgiving otherwise all that teenage rebellion would get cut down.

#6: Killua Zoldyck

“Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14) This one is a little tricky. On the one hand, Gon’s adult form managed to waste a Royal Guard, but that was a onetime explosion of power. The majority of the time, however, the young assassin of the Zoldyck Clan is in a league of his own. Not only does his natural killing prowess allow him to snatch the hearts out of his targets before they even realize it, but thanks to his mastery over Nen, he can turn himself into a human lightning bolt that could do some serious damage. We’ll never know which of these young Hunters would win in a duel to the death, but we know who our vote goes to now that Gon’s nen is back to square one.

#5: Megumin

“KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World” (2016-17) Like his fellow isekai brethren, Kazuma also has the handy talent of coming back from the dead over and over. Alas, when you match up his skills to that of the Crimson Demon Archmage, there really is no comparison. He might be able to steal her panties when the situation calls for it, but Megumin can call down fire from the heavens and smite you where you stand. It might leave her fatigued afterwards, but that doesn’t really matter if her opponent is nothing more than melted bones.

#4: Kenji Miyazawa

“Bungo Stray Dogs” (2016-) Compared to the other members of the Armed Detective Agency, Kenji isn’t exactly the brightest bulb. If anything, he’s a simple country boy looking for a fun time, who just happened to have insane super strength. We all know that Atsushi packs a hell of a punch, especially when he’s in his weretiger form, but given how Kenji can toss around cars and streetlamps like they were twigs, we’d say he’s clearly got the advantage when it comes to fisticuffs. Thankfully he’s such a bag of sunshine that nobody has to worry about a surprise and potentially life-ending sucker punch.

#3: Yuma Kuga

“World Trigger” (2014-16) The intergalactic neighbour with some serious power in his swing. He may be half of the face of the series, but with Osamu taking the position of team leader against the wicked invaders, Yuma was pushed to the side just enough that he could qualify here. But man, is he the MVP. Not only are his physical abilities top tier, not only can his Trion body recover from most damage, but he’s got a variety of energy based weaponry he can trigger at the tip of a hat. Love thy neighbour boys and girls.

#2: Saber

“Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works” (2014-15) Shirou may have gained access to an unprecedented Noble Phantasm during his final clash with Gilgamesh, but even he proclaimed that his flurry of swords have nothing on Saber’s years of experience. Not only does this radiant Servant have the strength to stand up to the likes of Berserker, but her weapon of choice is powerful enough to bring down any peon who stands before her. Whether she’s trading swings with fellow sword users or unleashing the full power of Excalibur, the King of Knights still outshines her Master.

#1: Milim

“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” (2018) You would have thought that being a sentient blob that can devour gods and absorb their powers for himself would have made Rimuru the most devastatingly powerful creature in the land. But nope. As it happens, he’s got a new bestie who just happens to be a Demon Lord, and as such is able to one shot enemies that even give the future ruler of the world a run for his money. The fact she can blast apart giant monster while still showing some kind of restraint is a testament to the true depth of her unholy magic.
