Top 10 Times Anime Characters Revealed Their True Strength
VOICE OVER: Ashley Bowman WRITTEN BY: Alex Crilly-Mckean
These OP characters went crazy! For this list, we're going to be looking at the times where characters in anime pulled back the curtain and demonstrated just how powerful they really are. Our countdown includes “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train”, “Magi”, “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations”, and more!

#10: I AM the Train!

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train” (2020) Possibly the weirdest transformation for a demon to take, Enmu was already plenty strong thanks to his Blood Demon Art allowing him to submerge his foes in the sweetest of dreams. But then he fused himself with the Mugen Train and became the locomotive from hell. Might sound a bit counterproductive but given how he can reshape every compartment into a fleshy nightmare filled with death tendrils, we’d say it's certainly a promotion. Not that it did much good when having to tango with the likes of Rengoku.

#9: Can’t Die LOL

“Talentless Nana” (2020) Sent to eliminate an island full of teenagers with superpowers, Nana’s mission hit a slight snag when she found herself encountering the lone wolf of the class. Despite triggering a small explosion, Nana’s attempt to assassinate Kyoya proved to be all for naught…due to him suddenly revealing himself to be immortal. Now able to walk away from any trap she may throw at him, Nana is forced to eat humble pie while also keeping up the crumbling illusion that she’s a chipper member of the superpowered populace.

#8: How to Kill Your Dragon

“Burn the Witch” (2020) Whelp, that’s certainly one way to make yourself a crucial character in a matter of seconds. Serving as the mentor figure to both Noel and Ninny, Billy seemed like a laid-back kind of guy stuck in a tired old job without any real chance of rising up in the ranks. Then we saw him bring down a dragon with one shot. As the beast known as Cinderella goes on a rampage, Banks is shown to snipe it down from afar with surprising ease. Turns out the geezer is the son of some legendary hero, and is packing some killer magic of his own.

#7: Can You Smell What Zeus Is Cooking?

“Record of Ragnarok” (2021) The King of the Gods is not one to be toyed with, even if he does prefer using muscle to lightning. Facing off against Adam in the tournament to decide the fate of mankind, the ruler of Olympus finds himself getting wrecked due to Adam’s ability to copy the techniques of his foes. Pushed to his limit, Zeus resorts to his trump card: condensing and moulding his body into a more compact form, one capable of delivering blows that takes the father of humanity out to pasture.

#6: Meet the Devil

“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” (2018-) Shion may be top tier waifu material, but as far as Rimuru’s servants go, none can compare to the likes of the Primordial being formally known as Noir. Tasked with finishing things up with the murderous mage Razan, Diablo proves himself to be a monster on a whole other level even before being given a name, easily breaking down each one of the sorcerer’s attacks with minimal effort. When you can make a sociopathic narcissist faint with fear, you know you’re a different breed.

#5: Hail to the King

“Magi” (2012-14) Just because he’s the most chill monarch out there doesn’t mean he can’t bury you if he wishes. Not allowing the likes of the dark mage Ithnan to escape after he nearly started a war, the ruler of Sindria brings the pain by bonding with the immensely powerful Djinn Focalor. Turns out that its magnitudes above anything that the cowardly usurper can dish out, revealing that beneath his carefree attitude, Sinbad is not one to be trifled with. Ithnan’s obliteration followed rather swiftly after that.

#4: Mahito Throws Hands

“Jujutsu Kaisen” (2020-) It’s bad enough that he’s a curse who finds the suffering of humanity to be his number one hobby, but then he went and got himself a Domain Expansion added to his arsenal. An enhanced version of his Idle Transfiguration, Mahito creates a web of his own hands, placing his victim within its centre, and in doing so can instantly deconstruct their body into a withered shell of itself. We’ve never seen him pull it off before, but its implications are sure to cause a lot of death over at Jujutsu Tech.

#3: O, My Seven Quirks

“My Hero Academia” (2016-) Just when he was getting used to furthering his understanding of One for All and coming to grips with his superior strength, Deku’s own Quirk dropped a bombshell on him. Turns out that he’s in possession of the individual Quirks of all the previous owners of One for All. Only a slight issue; he can’t exactly control them all. Case and point, when he inexplicably unlocks the power of Blackwhip, and in doing so unleashes a barrage of energy tendrils capable of crushing everything around him. May want to get that under control Midoriya!

#2: Spirited Away, Yuno Style

“Black Clover” (2017-) Taking himself just a small step ahead of Asta, the Golden Dawn’s golden boy showed the world that not only was he a magic knight full of surprises, but was shaping up to be one hell of a candidate for Wizard King. Taking on the zany yet oh deadly Magic Knight Capital Rill in the finale of the tournament, Yuno demonstrates his newfound mastery of spirit magic by fusing with his familiar, resulting in an upgraded form capable of besting even something as out there as Picture magic.

#1: Momoshiki in the Driver’s Seat

“Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” (2017-) Like father, like son. However, instead of a giant nine tailed fox living inside him, Boruto’s new inner companion just happens to be a godly member of the most powerful ninja clan to ever exist. Who he previously killed. And has absolutely zero chill. After taking over Boruto’s body for himself, the Otsutsuki member goes all out against Boro, easily knocking him back like he were a filler villain. Only to then put his spin on the Rasengan! Happy fun sharing a body you two!
