Gender identity and sexual orientation are two completely different things. One is what gender we see ourselves as being. The other is what gender(s) and sex(es) we are physically and romantically attracted to.

Transgender women are not cross-dressers or drag queens. Drag queens are men, typically gay men, who dress like women for the purpose of entertainment.

If trans people were confused, one would expect a lot of regret among people who medically transition. But the research doesn't show this happening.

While some undergo medical transitions for cosmetic, psychological, or health reasons, many won't because they can't afford it, face some other obstacle, or simply don't want to.
