While the infamous Fly episode may have been punishing to some fans, there are virtually no complaints about the rest of the series. It has consistently received very high ratings throughout it's five season run, and the finale is often considered one of the best ever made

While it could be argued that with a run of only five episodes, it would be impossible to tire out the audience, Chernobyl is nonetheless a fantastic show. It saved HBO's reputation from the recent failure of Game of Thrones and clearly chose quality over quantity when it can to it's episodes.

Though it only went on for five seasons, those seasons were well received by both critics and fans alike, and the finale is considered one of the finest in tv history, especially compared to the divisive response to The Sopranos' finale a few years later
