You have to pay either $1.49 per month or $10 per year. Otherwise, you have to watch ads before or during your game. Most bafflingly, you can't carry over your payed Windows 8 Solitaire over to Windows 10.

Most of the resources and blueprints you need to craft weapons are locked behind microtransactions. And since they weren't required to complete the game, they were practically pointless.
