In the fanbase's defence, JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson don't seem to care about longtime Star Wars fans or the legacy itself, and the Sequel Trilogy did have moments that are so not like Star Wars, plus they completely debunked the Dan theories of things like Rey's Origins.
