It dealt with themes not yet given full light on the small screen, and subverted the lies that women couldn't defend themselves, and that gay people couldn't have healthy and loving relationships.

As well as the means for the taking over of our homeland and a terrible regime that may follow. Which in the case of both Trump's rise to power and Brexit taking over in the United Kingdom, we are on the look out for our Mockingjay.

It seems that since the 1990's, Feminism and LGBT progression reached an all time high. And few characters met the criteria for what female power could be in a manner that could compare to Xena.
