The people who love this episode love it because it's like one of the classic Greek tragedies. The people who hate the episode hate it becuase it reminds them of one of the classic Greek tragedies. Both agree the ending is sad.

The death of Dr. Culber was a huge shock for fans, and for many, particulary those who identify as being on the LGBTQ spectrum, was a bridge too far and enough reason to quite the show altogether.
