It's at 180,000,000 sales in total. It has a successful anime (It's not great, but still). It has been alive for twenty years. This has to be #1 or two and is only acceptable to be behind Mario because Mario is the face of gaming.

a combination of Nintendo's mascots and notable 3rd party game characters, like Mega Man, Sonic, Cloud, and Pac-Man, this franchise has extended accross the gaming universe and shows us the best things in gaming. It isn't only one of the best franchises from Nintendo, but one of the best of all.
