The Crystal Maze only failed because it became too expensive to produce. The high ratings it got was largely due to Richard O'Brien from Rocky Horror Picture Show as the energetic host and guide through the maze. I think it was partially due to the success of Crystal Maze is what led to the acquisition of Fort Boyard.

A comedy panel game show where the questions are totally wacky and answers are often side-splittingly hilarious (like the Dr. Who special with David Tennant as guest host, where one of the questions he asked was a knock-knock joke)

It's the ultimate trivia show where four contestants are given two rounds to score as many points as possible, first in a specialized subject of their choice and then in general knowledge. It's like Jeopardy! but much, much more depth to it.
