Following a very long successful run on Cheers for many years, they were able to make a high-brow comedic spin-off of Cheers which kept it on the air for just about as long as Cheers was.

Out of all the Law and Order spin-offs, this is one of the only ones still on the air. It grew a die-hard fan base that has kept it on TV for 15 seasons already and may surpass the original series in length if it can push another 4-5 seaons out. The characters on this show have been more beloved than characters from the orginal series.

Star Trek: The Series was unique. Star Trek: The Next Generation propelled the Star Trek series into the main stream. The biggest debate is which was better, the original series or the next generation, Captain Kirk or Captain Picard.
