Nah, this counts as cult because it was never a household title everyone knew about. It only rose to power from the "My name is Inigo Montoya" line, upon which it started to be known. I'd call it obscure enough in its time to be cult.

Kevin Smith's Tusk is more of a cult film than Clerks. It was a low budget movie but it had a wide release.
