Right up there with Spiders, Rats and Bats. Snakes are pretty much in any RPG in one form or another and they are almost ALWAYS venomous.

Fish are a staple in almost every water level. It makes sense, but there are other water creatures out there. You rarely see things like octopi, squid, eels, anenomies, etc.

They've been extinct for millions of years, and yet, we find them in a number of games anyway. Not just games like Dino Crisis and Jurassic Park, but also in games like Mega Man, The Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario Brothers.

If it's not terrorists, mercenaries, ninja's, Nazi's or Russians, it's gang members. They've been a staple in side-scroller games since the beginning: Double Dragon, Final Fight, Spiderman: Maximum Carnage, etc.

They've been called slimes, jellies, buzz blobs, chuchus, drops, globs, gels, ditto, etc. However, almost every fantasy/adventure game has some kind of shapeless blob of goo running around to get you. Generally, they are the weakest of any enemies in the game but no one can deny how plentiful they are.
Sci-Fi, fantasy, adult and children games, what game franchise DOESN'T include birds in at least ONE of its games? Birds tend to be used as the generic flying enemy that attack for various reasons. Sometimes birds are trained to attack the enemy, other times they are infected with the same disease that's causing everything to go crazy, more often
