Top 10 Most Hyped Band Comebacks of All Time
#10: The Pussycat Dolls
The iconic girl group has been teasing a full-fledged comeback for years. In 2019, five of the six original members: Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, Carmit Bachar, and Jessica Sutta reunited on “The X Factor: Celebrity”. Their performance made a huge stir, even though Melody Thornton wasn’t a part of it. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic and legal trouble with the group’s founder, Robin Antin, torpedoed their plans to go on tour. Finally, in 2026, the Pussycat Dolls came together again, though as a trio of Nicole, Ashley, and Kimberly. They’ve released new music and will embark on the PCD Forever Tour next – for real this time. With supporting acts like Lil' Kim and Mya, the Y2K nostalgia is at an all-time high.
#9: Jonas Brothers
The former Disney stars took over the world in the aughts. From the success of albums like “Jonas Brothers” and “A Little Bit Longer” to the popularity of “Camp Rock” skyrocketing them to fame, the trio was at the top of the world. Then came the dreaded hiatus in 2011, followed by an official split in 2013. Fans were left utterly heartbroken, even though the members pursued their solo careers passionately. So, when they got back together in 2019 and released “Sucker”, fans turned it into a chart-topper. They eventually released a highly successful album called “Happiness Begins”, supported by the Happiness Begins Tour, which reaffirmed their status as pop sensations. Needless to say, the trio hasn’t looked back since.
#8: Oasis
This rock band soundtracked a generation with timeless hits like “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova”. Be it commercial success or critical acclaim, Oasis had it all, but it came crashing down when members Liam and Noel Gallagher fell out. In 2009, the latter left the band, which became Beady Eye, and later disbanded in 2014. A decade later, the Gallagher brothers called a truce and blessed the music world with an Oasis reunion that broke the internet. It was the end of an era of feuding and the beginning of a stellar second act, characterized by sold-out shows across the globe. The Oasis Live '25 Tour was attended by millions of fans who wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
#7: Linkin Park
After Chester Bennington’s passing in 2017, LP didn’t just lose their frontman; the very soul of the band was shattered. Replacing Chester was out of the question, and for the longest time, there was no substantial conversation around the band’s future, simply because it seemed impossible. Then, in 2024, Dead Sara co-founder Emily Armstrong was announced as Linkin Park’s new lead vocalist, alongside Colin Brittain joining as drummer, and fans were divided. Her reported connection to the Church of Scientology and concerns about her alleged support for disgraced actor Danny Masterson led some fans, including Chester’s son Jaime, to disapprove of her. Others were elated about Linkin Park’s return, and their first album as a reformed group, “From Zero”, was a major hit.
#6: My Chemical Romance
There’s only one band in the world that can make millions choke up with a single G5 note. My Chemical Romance rose to stratospheric heights of success with their inimitable brand of alt-rock and pop-punk until their heartbreaking split in 2013. Fans got their hopes up about a reunion in 2016, but it did not materialize. Instead, a reissue of “The Black Parade” called “The Black Parade/Living with Ghosts” was released. The following year, the band finally came back together, albeit privately. In 2019, they announced their reunion, much to the joy of fans worldwide. The band has since been playing shows, headlining festivals, and reviving 2000s emo nostalgia like never before.
#5: Fleetwood Mac
Despite being one of the greatest bands of all time, they were plagued by internal tensions, relationship drama, and several member changes. Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks formed one of the most successful lineups in the group’s history, but this ensemble did not last. Buckingham left the band in 1987, seemingly on terrible terms. In 1995, after Fleetwood Mac disbanded, the classic five surprisingly began working together again. A brief reunion for former POTUS Bill Clinton’s first inauguration raised hopes for a comeback, which until then had seemed highly unlikely. However, fans got their wish when the “Rumors”-era members released the chart-topping album “The Dance” in 1997. They later commenced on The Dance Tour, which was immensely successful.
#4: Spice Girls
Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel B, Melanie C, and Geri Halliwell were pop royalty in the nineties. They were unbeatable as a group, which made them into global icons. However, after Geri shockingly quit the Spice Girls in 1998, things weren’t the same. The remaining members continued touring and focused on their solo endeavors. However, their album “Forever” did not reach the level of success they were used to. An indefinite hiatus soon followed. Though many tried to get the band back together, a reunion wouldn’t happen until 2007, when the OG five reconnected for “The Return of the Spice Girls Tour”. It was a cultural phenomenon, with tickets selling out in the blink of an eye. Countless awards were won, and history was made.
#3: Eagles
The six-time Grammy-winning band spawned legendary hits like “Hotel California” and “Life in the Fast Lane”. Unfortunately, the group went up in flames when founding member and co-frontman Glenn Frey clashed with guitarist Don Felder. Their feud reached a fever pitch in 1980, when the two openly traded verbal jabs during a concert at Long Beach, California. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers went their separate ways soon after. Frey famously claimed the Eagles would get back together ‘when hell freezes over’. Luckily, it only took fourteen years. With their megahit 1994 album “Hell Freezes Over” and the accompanying Hell Freezes Over Tour, which became one of the highest-grossing tours of the 90s, the Eagles were officially back.
#2: BTS
Having established themselves as one of the biggest musical acts in the world, the Bangtan Boys had to pause group activities to fulfill their mandatory military service in South Korea. The members started enlisting in 2022, and by 2025, they had returned safely. All that was left was for them to make a comeback. In 2026, BTS released the highly anticipated album “Arirang” to massive fanfare. It broke streaming records, topped charts, and dominated social media. A related Netflix documentary called “BTS: The Return” also made headlines. Additionally, as a part of the comeback, BTS held a free concert at Gwanghwamun Square, a historical landmark in Seoul. The show was live-streamed on Netflix, reportedly drawing 18.4 million viewers. No one’s doing it like BTS.

#1: ABBA
The Swedish pop legends enjoyed one of the most illustrious careers in the history of music. They captured hearts across the world with songs like “Dancing Queen” and “Knowing Me, Knowing You”, and their discography inspired the award-winning musical “Mamma Mia!” Unfortunately, from 1982 onwards, the group gradually became less active. Agnetha Fältskog and Björn Ulvaeus were divorced by then, and so were Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. Decades passed without any significant reunion, and fans had almost given up hope of an ABBA comeback … until the icons came out with their ninth studio album “Voyage”. It was not only a chartbuster but also racked up several Grammy nods. The corresponding ABBA Voyage concert residency performed by virtual ‘ABBAtars’ is ongoing in London.
