The Titans Are Back Baby!
We’re currently in the midst of Titan-mania. Not only has the animated flick Teen Titans Go To The Movies managed to force a few laughs out of fans and newcomers, but we’re also on route to get what appears to be the edgiest depiction of the characters to date in the upcoming live-action Titans series.
However, that’s not what’s got fans excited, as a stinger at the end of Teen Titans Go To The Movies reveals the team returning to their old animation style, hinting that there’s a potential sixth season in the works. As such, there’s huge potential for old friends, foes and plot points to make reappearances, with these five sitting comfortably at the top of our list.
#5: Bring Back Control Freak
One of the funniest villains to ever appear on the show was this couch potato, who managed to cause the Titans no end of trouble with his TV inspired antics. Given how much the internet as changed (not to mention the toxicity) there would be no better time for Control Freak to pop in for some hilarious fourth wall breaks and cleverly-woven social commentary.
#4: Starfire’s Time To Shine
Each season of the show has contained an overarching plot that tended to focus on one Titan in particular. The only one not to get this treatment was Starfire, since the show was cancelled before she could get her opportunity. While we’re not saying to ignore the plights of the rest of the team, we think it’s time the Tamaranian was given the chance to carry a season finale.
#3: The Fate of Terra
Things Change was a highly controversial episode. Not only was it the show’s unexpected finale, but it chose to focus on Beast Boy discovering what appeared to be a very much alive Terra. Only she doesn’t recognise him or have any memory of her time as a Titan. Throw in the fact her statue was no longer there, this raised the question of whether or not this was a different girl entirely or if she had chosen to shun her previous life. Questions need to be answered!
#2: Red X Returns
An enigmatic and fan-favourite anti-hero, this thief has shown himself to be both an enemy and an ally to Robin of numerous occasions. While we’re not asking for his true identity to be revealed, we’d love to see him make a reappearance and further blur the line between hero and villain through his interactions with the Titans. Besides, we miss his eXcellent puns!
#1: Slade
Even if he isn’t the main antagonist of the new season, a Teen Titans revival just wouldn’t be complete without the return of their deadliest enemy. Whether he’s working from the shadows or putting the smack down on the whole team, it would be a crime not to include one of Ron Perlman’s most iconic roles. We still get shivers when hear that menacing voice…
