Time To Jump The Shark…Literally!
The trailer for the DCEU’s latest cinematic outing just dropped, and with it a whole lot of underwater action sure to satisfy those who have been dying to see Arthur Curry strut his stuff on the big screen. While there’s plenty to dissect and analyse, for us, these five moments that had us jumping out of our seats and cheering for the King of the Sea.
#5: Crimson Tide
Even before Atlantis, it looks like Aquaman is already putting his incredible strength to good use, since we see him wreck a submarine like it was nothing. While it certainly demonstrates just how powerful our hero can be, this sub-scuffle looks to also serve as the introduction to Black Manta. He doesn’t look too happy that the Atlantean wrecked his ride…
#4: Shiny Atlantis Is Shiny
Much like Wakanda, the underwater civilisation known as Atlantis is looking a tad more futuristic than its legends would have you believe, complete with robotic transport, giant domes and more sparkles than we know what to do with. As long as it doesn’t take a page out of The Phantom Menace’s book, we’re eager to see more of this fabled city.
#3: Black Manta
The iconic nemesis of Aquaman is indeed featured throughout the trailer, and he is packing heat! Armed with his signature laser beams and bulky armor, it looks like we can expect to see the two fated enemies engage in a explosive confrontation on the surface. Hopefully it will lend itself to some kickass underwater battles as well.
#2: Gladiator
Alongside Black Manta, Aquaman looks set to tango with his half-brother Orm (otherwise known as Ocean Master) who is dead-set on declaring war on all those pesky landlubbers. He’s also got his eye on the throne. How to sort out a royal sibling rivalry? Apparently with Atlantean gladiatorial combat, complete with a lava arena!
#1: Civil War: Atlantis Edition
The crowning moment of the trailer was by far the sneak-peak at what promises to be an epic final battle for control of Atlantis, featuring two armies ready to tear each other apart with their undersea mounts. Not sure who thought seahorses would win against sharks, but we can’t wait to see the results either way!
