Netflix’s latest anime has already hit screens the world over, and to say it’s binge-worthy would be an understatement. Focusing on the daily life of an adorable anthropomorphic red panda called Retsuko, it soon becomes clear she’s not exactly pleased with how things have turned out. Stuck in an office job with a literal pig of a boss, taken advantage of by her coworkers, generally having her self-esteem beaten into the ground on a daily basis, it’s a unpleasant and monotonous existence to say the least. So, how does she manage to cope with all this? Three words.

The juxtaposition of such a sweet and compassionate cinnamon bun like Retsuko being an utter monster on the mic isn’t only hilarious, but downright awesome. If that wasn’t enough to entice you, then check out these three reasons why Aggretsuko should be the next show you marathon!
#3: Real-Life Issues
Social prejudices in the workplace, aspiring to better yourself but end up failing regardless, watching everyone around you succeed in life while you’re stuck in the same dead-end job, Aggretsuko manages to reflect some painfully real situations that many can attest to. While the anime never really pushes things into the realm of unpleasantness, the relatability manages to further enforce the comedy, especially when Retsuko end up rolling from one awkward situation to the next.
#2: The Crazy Cast
A fox bestie who is obsessed with social media, an anxious hyena whose harbouring a major crush on our lead, a boss who is a pig in every aspect, a hippo who can’t stop gossiping, the employees down in sales administrations are certainly a colorful bunch. While many of seem like the only exist to make Retsuko’s life more stressful, as the series goes on we see them start to come into their own in the most unexpected of ways. Oh, and Fenneko might just be the best wing-woman ever!
#1: Heavy Metal Red Panda
Retsuko is a delightful character in every sense, one who hates her job more than anything and is desperately looking for an out. Faced with a non-stop barrage of abuse from the higher ups, all she can do is unleash her fury in the form of late night karaoke sessions. Needless to say, when Retsuko’s death metal persona is unleashed, you’re either going to be laughing your backside off or raising your devil horns in unison. Combine this with some great character progression, and this little red panda easily carries this anime from beginning to end.
