Time For Bad Comics To Burn

He wears a purdy hat, has a magic gun, takes on the comic book industry’s very worst…and on the odd occasion battles against robotic clones of himself as well as vicious Outer Gods. Say hello to veteran internet review Lewis Lovhaug aka Linkara!

A former star of That Guy With The Glasses/Channel Awesome, Linkara’s is well-regarded as one of the best when it comes to taking moronic comics and tearing them to shreds with an equal measure of keen insight and hilarious gags. His show, Atop The Fourth Wall, is still going strong with his five hundredth episode looming on the horizon, so what better time to look back at what we feel were some of his greatest reviews.

Prepare for copious amounts of nerd-rage and SPOILERS!

#3: Countdown

One of the earliest examples of Linkara losing his mind to the sheer stupidity of a comic series, this stands as one of the DC Universe’s worst outings, and boy did he suffer for it. The nonsensical subplots involving C-Grade heroes, its treatment of great villains like Darkseid, literally everything to do with Superboy Prime, the whole thing was a slog from beginning to end. Thankfully Linkara’s gradual decent into madness was oh so entertaining to watch. What else is there left to say other than “I’LL KILL YOU! I’LL KILL YOU TO DEATH!”

#2: Holy Terror

The 300th episode was certainly a special one. Not only was it another milestone, but it also had Linkara facing off against his old nemesis Frank Miller yet again, who in this instance seemed to have decided to make a whole comic dedicated to his own prejudices. While watching Miller get torn to pieces always makes for a great viewing experience, what stands out most about this review is its conclusion. Linkara goes on to talk about how the comic stands for everything he despises, how it promotes fear, discrimination, violence and the worst of human nature. It’s a rather moving speech that perfectly summarises everything wrong with the book, all helmed with a poignant sense of chivalry.

#1: All-Star Batman and Robin

It’s Miller Time again. While Holy Terror may have been a downright disgusting example of human contempt in comic form, this is the book that made a mockery of the one character that Miller once helped pioneer; Batman. In one of Linkara’s longest running series, he elaborates on what he calls the “Adventures of Crazy Steve” as the Dark Knight goes around kidnapping orphans, nearly killing the other members of the Justice League and even getting it on with Black Canary while criminals burn alive in the background. Why? Because he’s the goddamn Batman of course. If you’re looking for Atop The Fourth Wall at it’s funniest, then look no further!
