Five Times The Madness!
Starting off as a gritty, GTA-esque action game, the Saints Row series has somewhat struggled over the years to find its identity, at least until Saints Row IV. By embracing the sillier elements of its predecessors while also including superpowers, aliens and all manner of fourth wall breaks, the latest entry in this long-running franchise ended up becoming a household name. As such, we’re more than a little excited about what to expect from the sequel.

While we have no doubt that Deep Silver will continue on with the hilarious trends the fourth iteration established, we’re hoping we see the following elements going into the much-anticipated Saints Row V!
#3: Relationship System Redux
Aside from Keith David, Saints Row 4Â gave players the option of romancing the entire crew, with a twist. Instead of slowly building a relationship, The Boss can literally end up getting jiggy with anyone, anytime. Unlike the other lovey-dovey interactions you would find in other games, the whole thing is played for laughs, with each interaction more hilarious than the last. Not only would we love to see this mechanic return, but also expanded upon. Let us develop a romance with both our allies as well as NPCs over time, but make each new stage in the relationship crazier than the one before!

#2: Voice Customization 2.0
Aside from being able to dress our personal avatars in everything from superhero costumes to gimp outfits, what really shone during the game’s fourth instalment was the little nuances courtesy of the game’s voice options. The English voice managed to interweave an obscene amount of hilarious British slang, the stereotypical cowgirl voice more than played up to her Southern roots, and the Nolan North voice was…just Nolan North. It was a much welcome addition that we hope they can improve on in the future, perhaps with celebrity impressions or an even larger roster of famous voice actors to choose from.

#1: Spacetime Exploration
Now that the Saints have access to both a spaceship and time travel, there’s no excuse for them not abuse the hell out of them. While this would still allow them to visit Earth across eras a la Assassin’s Creed, what we’re really hoping to see is a funnier version of Mass Effect; watching our particular protagonist traverse the cosmos as he takes on all manner of alien overlords, interact with bizarre interrelation society, and maybe even blow up the odd planet or two. We wouldn’t put it past them.
