Top 3 Underrated Steve Blum Performances

He’s More Than Just A Space Cowboy!

Across all mediums, whether it be Japanese animation, western cartoons or numerous video games, Steve Blum has made his mark with a range of memorable characters. We’re not exaggerating when we say some have gone on to cement themselves as cultural icons. You’d be pretty hard pressed to find a fan who hasn’t heard of the likes of Spike Spiegel!

While the likes of Dragon Age’s Oghren, Bulletstorm’s Grayson Hunt, Marvel’s Wolverine and The Legend of Korra’s Amon rightly get plenty of attention, we feel that these next three roles should get their fair share. Not only did these performances steal the show within their respective titles, but have actually gone on to help fans in ways beyond that of mere entertainment.

#3: Jamie
“Megas XLR” (2014-15)

There’s always that one friend who thinks he’s way cooler than he actually is, who for some reason always seems to make every situation worse. Yep, that’s Jamie. Something of a slacker who’s obsessed with getting lucky with the ladies, he may certainly have his unlikable qualities, but thanks to Steve’s performance he actually turned into the show’s funniest character. That’s quite impressive, especially in a series about a hot-rod mecha. Cynical in the best way possible, we couldn’t wait to see what hilarious situations Jamie would unwillingly find himself in next.

#2: Lucifer
“Dante’s Inferno: An Animated Epic” (2010)

This one may be a little more obscure, but is nonetheless still worthy of praise. Based on the demonic hack n’ slash video game, this animated feature sees Steve take on the persona of the Prince of Darkness. Needless to say, every scene he’s in is an utter delight. Every word and action is deliciously evil, capturing the charisma that could only come from someone as devious as the Lord of Hell. His narration eventually becomes so enrapturing that all of a sudden the inferno looks rather inviting.

#1: Guilmon
“Digimon Tamers” (2001-02)

While this role is certainly beloved among fans of the franchise, we feel that this adorable Digimon can’t get enough attention. Not only is Guilmon arguably the cutest creature to ever come from the Digital World, but the relationship he shares with his partner Takato is downright heartwarming. Steve himself has gone on the record about how both fans and parents have come forward to talk about how Guilmon’s personal journey, mannerisms and innocent nature have helped them or their loved ones through the toughest of times.
