#3: Jurassic World 3 Already in the Works for 2021 Release

Universal Studios is sparing no expense when it comes to their Jurassic World franchise. The follow-up, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is still four months away from theatrical release, but the production house is already moving forward with the third instalment of the franchise, looking to have it ready for the big screen in 2021. Universal has set a summer release date of June 11th, which will see the story build off the plot of Fallen Kingdom, where after the failure of the theme park in Jurassic World, Chris Pratt’s Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire try to save the surviving dinosaurs from a volcanic eruption. What is Jurassic World 3’s plot you ask? Well, Universal is keeping that info close to their chests. All that is known is that newcomer Emily Carmichael will pen the script based on a story by Colin Trevorrow, who returns to the franchise as executive producer.

#2: Jessica Chastain in Talks to Join It Sequel

Looks like the It sequel may have found their adult Beverly. First reported by Variety, New Line Cinema and director Andy Muschietti have reportedly reached out to A-list actress Jessica Chastain, and are now in the early stages of negotiating a contract. The Internet went abuzz in 2017 after the film was released, with numerous publications speculating that Chastain would play the older version of Sophia Lillis’ Beverly, since Chastain and Muschietti previously worked together on the horror flick, Mama. Adding fuel to the fire, Sophia Lillis, who plays Beverly in chapter one, mentioned in interviews how Chastain would be her number one choice to play her adult character; as did Muschietti and his sister, who produced the film. If Chastain is to sign on to the film, it will add the stars already busy schedule. She recently wrapped up filming Molly’s Game for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe, and will also star in the new X-Men film, Dark Phoenix.

#1: Black Panther Breaks Box Office and Rotten Tomatoes Records

The latest instalment in the MCU took the movie world by storm this week, and made a little movie history. The movie, which premiered February 16th, clawed its way to a whopping $242.1 million over the four-day President’s Day weekend, the biggest President’s Day weekend ever. Ryan Coogler also became the best-selling African-American director of the four-day weekend, and the second-best overall after J.J. Abrams and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Black Panther did surpass The Force Awakens in one category, though. Earning $40.2 million on Monday, Black Panther surpassed the Star Wars sequel, setting a record for the best Monday domestic gross. As if Black Panther wasn’t already living up to the hype, the film holds the best ever Rotten Tomatoes score for a live-action superhero movie at 97%, beating Christopher Nolan’s iconic The Dark Knight, which sits at 94.
