Time To Smash Some Ghosts!
You wouldn’t think the likes of Pac-Man and Izuku Midoriya would have much in common, what with one content to spend his days eating fruit and the other trying to become the world’s greatest hero. However, now it seems there’s a powerful force that has pulled these two together, linking their fates for all time. What force, we hear you cry? That would be the Nintendo Switch.
According to publishers Bandai Namco, the King of Waka-Waka and the cast of U.A High will be smashing their way onto the Switch at some point next year. An article on Eurogamer revealed that it’s the Championship Edition 2 version of Pac-Man that made the cut, whereas we can only assume that the recently announced My Hero Academia: One’s Justice game is the other contender.
Bandai Namco has confirmed two new games for Switch, one of which features labyrinthine levels, unpredictable enemy behaviours and a protagonist driven by an all-consuming hunger for the souls of the slain. That’s right, it’s… Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus, a new, digital-only instalment in the reimagined retro series. The other game is an untitled adaptation of the My Hero Academia manga and TV series. Sorry, looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for that much-speculated-about Dark Souls port.
Championship Edition 2 is the moderately regarded sequel to one of 2007’s top Xbox Live Arcade titles. The Plus version on Switch comes with an exclusive local two-player co-op mode, featuring special co-op abilities, and launches on 22nd February 2018.
There’s less to say about the My Hero project, which is also due out at some stage in 2018. The untitled game will involve “massive stage destruction” on the ground and in the air, and is also coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC.
