Welcome to the family, son. After falling on hard times with its laughably bad sixth entry, this year saw the Resident Evil franchise reclaim its fearful crown as a horror game juggernaut. With its gameplay, visuals and creepy as hell antagonists, the seventh instalment in the Resident Evil saga has gone on to become one of 2017’s best. But which moments freaked us out the most?
Fair warning, there are MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!
#10: Andre’s Corpse
Hey, what did become of Andre? Last we saw of him he was in a pretty bad state. As it happens, while you’re making your way through a sunken park of the basement, his corpse floats up to greet you.
#9: Clancy’s Fate
Poor Clancy. Instead of being killed by the other Bakers or the Molded, he ends up getting thrown into Lucas’ homemade torture room. Now complete with killer robot clown.
#8: Sorry Deputy
It’s bad enough Deputy Anderson was killed in such a brutal way, but then in order to progress we have to shove our hand into his corpse in order to find a key!
#7: Granny Baker
Grandma Baker didn’t say much, but she did like to turn up randomly and stare at us with those dead eyes of hers. Imagine our surprise when she turned out to be Eveline.
#6: Chainsaw Death Match
We finally got our chance to get revenge on Jack Baker, but shoving a chainsaw into his face no less! Shame he also happened to have one of his own as well…
#5: Footloose
If you end up getting caught by Jack, be prepared to literally lose your footing as he hacks it to pieces. At least he offers you some magic herb juice that reattaches it for you.
#4: Marguerite Baker
The Baker matriarch makes a mean feast, and also has a hive growing between her legs. Her boss fight isn’t just challenging, it’s downright disgusting.
#3: Supper With The Bakers
The now iconic scene where players awakened to find themselves tied to a chair while the Bakers feasted on offal. If that wasn’t bad enough, Jack decides to get a little too up close and personal with that knife of his.
#2: Mia
Remember Ethan’s beloved girlfriend Mia, the damsel we were desperately trying to save? Yeah, she goes crazy and cuts off our hand with a chainsaw.
#1: The Garage
The game holds nothing back with this first boss fight, where Jack decapitates Deputy Anderson by spearing his head with a shovel, all before taking Ethan for a ride.
