Anime is a beautiful art-form that has given us no end of creative and enjoyable films and television. Granted, there’s always going to be certain titles that fall below others in terms of quality, whether it be in the way they handle their story or their overall production value. There are, however, some anime that we wish we had never laid eyes on. Some due to just being plain old awful, while others are more of a betrayal to longtime viewers.
#10: Umineko: When The Cry
They took a thrilling, supernatural visual novel and stripped out all the mystery, leaving a lifeless series devoid of practically any enjoyment in its place.
#9: Kiss x Sis
There are an uncomfortable amount of anime that deal with incest, but by far one of the worst is this little number, if only for the gratuitous amount of sexual scenes between siblings.
#8: Darker Than Black: Gemini of the Meteor
They took one of anime’s most enigmatic and badass characters and turned him into a drunk, homeless guy who groped underage girls in the sequel season. Wow.
#7: ChaoS;HEAd
Want to see an example of how an anime can take supernatural elements, a murder-mystery, a vulnerable protagonist and even a harem and turn it all into a colossal mess? Then look no further than this failure.
#6: Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny
SEED may not have been the best Gundam series but it certainly had its brilliant moments. Then Destiny came along and took what was good about its predecessor and proceeded to drag it through the mud.
#5: Pupa
The basis of this disgraceful series revolves around cannibalistic, incestuous interactions between a brother and his monster sister. You will feel sick after watching this.
#4: Eureka Seven AO
Want to see Renton and Eureka? Well too bad they’re not here. Instead, enjoy this time-travel story with far less interesting characters that will make you yearn for the original series.
#3: Tokyo Ghoul âA
Root A took a great horror series and butchered with its anime-original narrative until all that was left was disappointment and plot-holes. Kaneki and Touka deserved better.
#2: Lunar Legend Tsukihime
This adaptation of a beloved visual novel was so bad that fans’ hatred became a meme. Remember, there is no Tsukihime anime.
#1: Dragon Ball GT
How do you follow up one of the most respected shounen series of all time? Systematically take away everything that made it great.
