Every Mecha Fan’s Dream
We love Gundam, though obviously not as much as Japanese audiences. After all, they literally have life-size Mobile Suit models dotted all over the country. To say we are unbelievably jealous would be an understatement!
If you consider yourself to be the ultimate Gundam nut, then you may want to book your tickets to Japan right away. Not only is there an expo coming to Tokyo dedicated to the mecha franchise, but it will also feature over twenty of these impressive models!
According to an article on Otakumode –
Gundam Docks, the ongoing series of giant Mobile Suit Gundaminstallations, arrives in Japan on Nov. 20.
Gundam Docks at Tokyo Japan will bring 21 giant Gundam models plus a selection of other displays and limited edition merchandise to Japanese fans from Nov. 21, 2017 to Jan. 8, 2018.
Making its first appearance in Japan, the Gundam Docks series has previously visited Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan.
Mobile Suit Gundam will be completely taking over DiverCity Tokyo Plaza for the duration of the event, with each floor hosting displays and decor dedicated to a different instalment of the franchise.
In addition to the pillar wraps, entrance, and elevator decorations, Floors 1 and 3 – 5 will also feature 1/10th scale Gundam models with 21 in total spread across the three floors.
Three large Haro balloons will hang in the atrium between floors four and six while fans will have the opportunity to take 3D photos and purchase limited edition merchandise in the fourth floor event space.
During the event, the venue will be running a stamp rally in which fans can get their hands on a Federation or Zeon screen cleaner, as well as other Christmas themed campaigns.
