What Are The Straw Hats In For Now?
While the One Piece name has a lot of video games under its belt, there has been great anticipation surrounding the of new IP under the name of Dawn. While the other titles in One Piece’s gaming roster have been hit and miss, sources appear to be alluding to the fact that Dawn might actually a game of substantial substance.
According to an article on Anime News Network –
This year’s 49th issue of Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed more details on Monday about the previously revealed One Piece “Code Name Dawn” video game.
The issue teased that the game will tell the “truth of a tragic event.” The magazine also featured an image of a man in shadow standing in front of a city on fire. The issue described the city as that of the Holy Land Mariejois, adding “who is the person who stands on this absolutely inviolable sacred ground?” The visual also teased an “incident that will shake the power of the world.” In One Piece, Mariejois is the capital of the World Government and is also the land where the Celestial Dragons live.
The combined second and third 2018 issue of the magazine will reveal more information about the game on December 11.
The game will feature the talents of One Piece anime producer Hiroki Koyama from Toei Animation, One Piece media supervisor Suguru Sugita from Shueisha, One Piece game supervisor Yuji Suzuki from Shueisha, and One Piece game producer KÅji Nakajima from Bandai Namco Entertainment.
The game is commemorating the 20th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda‘s original One Piece manga.
The foundation sounds promising, but could it mean that we are in for a One Piece game that moves away from the hack and slash ways of the past? We’re doubtful it will by Skyrim levels of detail, but it doesn’t hurt to hope, right?
