You Are About To Enter Another Dimension
Nobody was expecting the likes of Get Out to be the cinematic gem that it was, but with his leap into the world of modern horror, Jordan Peele showed that as both a writer and director he was a force to be reckoned with.
It only makes sense, given how he managed to so successfully deliver a film that tackled social issues while also present a legitimately thrilling experience, that he would be the ideal candidate to breathe new life into such a classic series.
According to an article on IGN –
CBS is looking to revive The Twilight Zone on its All Access streaming video service, with Jordan Peele reportedly involved.
CBS made the announcement during its earnings call and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, this new version of the seminal sci-fi anthology series will reportedly hail from Peele’s production company Monkeypaw Productions. Marco Ramirez (The Defenders, Daredevil, Sons of Anarchy) will reportedly write the script and serve as showrunner.
However, not much else is known about this new iteration of The Twilight Zone, including a release date and if it has been given a straight-to-series order.
Created by Rod Serling, the original series ran from 1959 to 1964. CBS revived The Twilight Zone twice since, including a version that ran from between 1985 and 1989, and one that only lasted for a year from 2002 to 2003 on the UPN network.
Get Out took obvious ques and inspiration from the like of The Twilight Zone, and with the success of shows like Black Mirror, there might never be a better time to bring back Rod Serling’s masterpiece of a series. Especially if Peele can work in the clever commentary he used to bring to the foray with partner in comedy Keegan-Michael Key. Given the current state of the world, he’s got plenty of topics to choose from!
