Every Titan Needs A Nemesis
To say that fans miss the glory days of the original Teen Titans cartoon would be a huge understatement. The characters were complex and lovable, the episodes could be lighthearted or mature, and sometimes it even tackled some really serious subject matters!
All this wrapped together with some awesome fight scenes, and you had a gem of a show that is sorely missed, especially with how its replacement, Teen Titans Go, isn’t really sitting well with old school fans.
Know what else was awesome about the original cartoon? The villains! Teen Titans had no shortage of awesome villains. Some were funny, some were stupid, some were beyond badass, and others legitimately scared the living daylights out of us!
Which is why in honor of the classic animated series, we have listed who we believe to be the most memorable Teen Titans villains of all time!
#5: Control Freak
We’re just putting it out there, from a practical standpoint Control Freak is probably the worst villain of the bunch due to his incompetence and the fact he’s basically a prototype troll. However, as a figure of comedy, the walking couch potato is gold. He never fails to crack us up by using nerd trivia as a weapon, even going as far as to quote Keanu Reeves!
#4: The Brain
Harkening back to the glory days of megalomaniacal villains, we have the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil. Yep, just a brain in a scary-looking jar. Though you should be scared, as thanks to his genius intellect and uncanny ability to recruit villains, he managed to nearly bring all teenage superheroes to the edge of extinction. Plus that mechanical voice of his is just plain creepy.
#3: Red X
Technically speaking he’s more of an anti-hero, though in his own words, he’s a thief above all else. After stealing Robin’s former persona, this cocky and pun-loving crook made an enemy of the Titans while in pursuit of his own wants. While he’s constantly walking the line that separates heroes and villains, what makes X so much fun is just his arrogant approach to everything. He’ll save your life if he owes you one, but he’ll also steal you wallet in the process.
#2: Trigon
The build up to this villain was huge, and needless to say the payoff was well-worth the wait. After all he did bring about the end of the world. A demon entity and Raven’s father, Trigon exists only to destroy and dominate, and with immense power to back up his threats, he actually came pretty close to achieving his apocalyptic goals. For first impressions alone this guys deserves a spot on this list!
#1: Slade
It says something when what is essentially a watered-down version of Deathstroke the Terminator turns out to be a memorable, imposing and downright beastly villain! A criminal mastermind, Slade’s strength and will is so unshakeable that not only has he easily taken out the Titans on multiple occasions, but has also overcome death. Maybe it has something to do with him being voiced by Ron Perlman?
