Does This Hint At Raziel’s Return?
Ask old school gamers, and they’ll tell you that the classic entries in The Legacy of Cain franchise were true gems, especially in the case of its spin off series Soul Reaver.
Kain and his cohorts have all been dead and buried for quite a while now, and while many fans are content with the games of yesteryear, it is still a little sad that the world and lore of Nosgoth had to be put to rest. Or has it?
According to an article on GameZone –
The Legacy of Kain is a series that hasn’t seen an official entry since 2003’s Defiance. Fourteen years is a long time, and Crystal Dynamics is a developer that knows a thing or two about reviving old series’ with their 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider. Yesterday, the studio tweeted out a picture of the classic image of Raziel from The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver alongside the following quote:
“I am Raziel, first-born of His lieutenants. I stood with Kain and my brethren at the dawn of the empire.”
Here’s the tweet:

The tweet doesn’t confirm anything one way or the other, but Crystal Dynamics is responsible for launching the Legacy of Kain series into popularity in 1999 when it released Soul Reaver on PS1 and PC. Amy Hennig was one of the minds responsible for Soul Reaver’s success and was with the studio until moving over to Naughty Dog.
Crystal Dynamics isn’t saying anything concrete, but at this point, it would be a major disappointment if the studio wasn’t actually working on a Legacy of Kain game. Time will tell.
Hopefully this is much more than just a simple nostalgia trip and actually hints towards the revival or reboot of Raziel. No one devours souls quite like he does.
