WHERE HAVE ALL THE HEROES GONE?
People are starting to talk. And not in a good way. And here’s what everyone is wondering: Where the heck is the Avengers: Infinity War trailer? We’re not greedy, we don’t expect the whole movie to come out, but a li’l taste? We need that.
So where is it?
TRAILER PARKED
Here’s a breakdown:
In the last few weeks, Disney has released trailers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Marvelâs Black Panther, which leaves one eyebrow-raising question: whereâs the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War?
Avengers: Infinity War is Marvelâs next big superhero conglomerate, a movie that will bring almost all of the superheroes introduced over the last decade together for one major hurrah. Directed by the Russo brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War) and starring everyone from Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man) to Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Infinity War is being sold by Marvel executives as the superhero movie that MCU devotees have been waiting for.
The movie is out in less than a year, and we still havenât seen a trailer â well, some of us. Marvel has shown a trailer on two different occasions that a thousand fans have seen:Â Disneyâs D23 convention and San Diego Comic-Con. Although that trailer leaked online, the quality is subpar and you can barely make out what the characters are saying. Itâs why we recommended that people donât search it out, and instead wait for the trailer to officially drop.
That was in July. Itâs now approaching the end of October and we still have no clue when the trailer will arrive. Many thought that the trailer would be attached to Thor: Ragnarok, but the release of Black Pantherâs trailer signifies that Infinity War probably wonât. Likewise, with the trailer for The Last Jedi being released just last week, itâs unlikely weâll get another major stand-alone trailer anytime soon.
All of which leads us to our best guess: December….
INFINITY WAIT?
. . . Marvel chief Kevin Feige was asked about the trailer during a Thor: Ragnarok junket and the executive confirmed it would be released by the end of the year. Feigeâs statement comes just a few months after the Russo brothers confirmed that the Infinity War trailer released to the public would be different from the versions seen at D23 and SDCC.
Taking Feigeâs comments about the trailer being released âby the end of the yearâ and DâEspositoâs confirmation that the trailer is still in its finishing stages, it seems incredibly unlikely that Avengers: Infinity Warâs trailer will be paired with Thor: Ragnarok when Disney can attach it to The Last Jedi just one month later.
This may be all fine and dandy for Marvel Studios, but fans are getting increasingly impatient. Having to listen to those who were in attendance at Comic-Con talk about how great the trailer is (editorâs note: er, sorry) almost feels like taunting at this point. Twitter campaigns using clever hashtags and Facebook groups have sprouted up badgering Marvel Studios into releasing the trailer, but to no avail.
So there you have it. Patience young (and old) padawans. Patience. Let’s not get mad or anything. That never helps. . .
