It’s considered one of the greatest anime of all time, and with good reason! The narrative is as crazy as it is intriguing, the fight scenes are on a whole other tier, and of course its cast of characters are beyond endearing. But which ones are the best? Who stole our hearts? Who really is worthy of the title Pirate King? These are our picks –

#10: Tony Tony Chopper

Not only is he the most adorable talking reindeer you’ll ever see, but he’s also the Straw Hats’ irreplaceable medic.

#8: Buggy the Clown

He’s certainly not the most of intimidating of Luffy’s past foes, but he stole the show in his own right with just how unintentionally funny he was.

He may have started off as a coward and a liar, but over time Usopp grew into one of the most reliable members of Luffy’s crew. Besides, who else do you know that would leave the crew, have a change of heart, and return as a masked sniper?

She’s a thief through and through, but one who will always stand by her captain and crew. Don’t be distracted by her looks, she’ll steal your wallet in the time it takes you to blink.

#5: Sanji

Ladies man, expert cook, disgraced prince, kicking extraordinaire. Sanji is a man of many talents, one with a harrowing past and a love of all things delicious. Which in his mind means every pretty woman he comes across.

#4: Portgas D. Ace

Luffy’s step-brother and beloved member of Whitebeard’s crew. Not only was he an awesome and charming character in his own right, but his death left a hole in the hearts of fans that is yet to be filled.

#3: Trafalgar Law

A character who really came into his own recently, with a dark backstory and suaveness that made him a fan-favourite. He is the Surgeon of Death after all.

#2: Roronoa Zoro

Luffy’s first mate, and the man who has vowed to become the greatest swordsman in the world.Â Can he do it? Given how much of a beast he is in battle, you bet your ass he can!
