Without a doubt the cheapest entry on this list, the Black+Decker 12 cup Coffee Maker is the bare bones of home makers. Cheap and straight forward, you put the coffee in the machine and load it up with water. Just press start and you’re good go. It’s also programmable to brew at certain times. It doesn’t get more simple but we can’t guarantee you’ll pass on this coffee maker to your children.
#4:Â Cuisinart DCC-3200 14-Cup Glass Carafe
Coming in at almost three times the price of the Black+Decker brewer, this Cuisineart Glass Carafe Coffee Maker is the gold standard of most home coffee machines. It’s made of better materials and comes with a better variety of controls and settings (brew strength control, self-cleaning settings etc.) It’s a basic yet sturdy machine sure to last more than a couple of years. If you’re looking for something basic that will last, then this should be your choice.
#3: Â Aeropress Coffee and Espresso Maker
Less conventional than our other entries on this list, the Aeropress Coffee/Espresso Maker isn’t for everyone, but is widely praised in the coffee drinking world. It’s a simple home coffee or espresso style brewer similar to a French Press. It wins points for simplicity, ease of use, and especially price. Being a rather simple tool, it comes in at around $30. If you’re looking for something affordable and simple that’s known for making better brews than conventional coffee makers, then check this out.
#2:Â Keurig K575 Single Serve Programmable Coffee Maker
Single serve coffee machines have received a mix of hate and praise since they were introduced to the market years ago yet they remain popular for the same reasons: they’re simple and they make some fine cups of coffee. There are unfortunately more disadvantages to this style of machine, namely the long term cost implications. The coffee pods utilized by these brewers aren’t cheap, and they’ll give your wallet a run for its money if you’re a heavy coffee drinker. For the occasional drinker though, the Keurig K575 Coffee Maker is a definite hit.
#1:Â DeLonghi EC702 15 Espresso Maker
We had to include at least one luxury coffee maker in this list and we settled for the Delonghi Espresso Maker. Although quality espresso makers can definitely hit the 4-figure digits, this one is a good compromise between quality and price. It’s an entry level maker that still delivers some quality espresso/coffee. If you enjoy espresso or are simply looking at getting a versatile entry level maker that will last, then check this out.
